Every single resort down there is corrupt. Where do you think you are going? Mexico is the wild west and they don't love the gringo's all that much.

But Id still go.

Not at that resort, but been down there seven times now and never felt unsafe and always felt right at home. We've always stayed at the Excellence resorts.

Ok, so no one has ever been druged (roofies) in Canada or the US...it’s all around us. If you think traveling to a third world country and because it all nice and warm, so inviting there won’t be problems? Your in narco territory! Life means nothing, sex trade, drugs and money is all that matters down there. The picking are easy and laws are lax.
I travel extensively throughout Mexico, Costa Rica,Nicaragua to the borders of Columbia and it’s no Disney Land. Crime prays on pretty girls and silly tourist down there.
With that said I have managed to avoid any problems, knock on wood. Some scary times for sure but the world isn’t a safe place, only looking through rose tainted glasses it looks good.
As for the question....I’d go now problem, off to Costa Rica then a short walk into panama next week.
Mexico isn’t what it used to be 20-30yrs ago, way to much going on down there now, I would recommend somewhere quite in south central if your looking to relax.

Get your refund and head to Florida, Hawaii or California instead.....I’ve been to Mexico several times and now wouldn’t even consider going there again.

almost 2 million Canadians go to Mexico every year. You hear for the odd problem that tourists encounter.

I have always felt safe in Mexico. I have travelled down the west coast line by car and always felt safe. I stayed in a small fishing village of 500 for 10 days. I asked if any gringos was ever harmed by locals, and there was a mugging 15 years ago on the beach.

I walked the streets of Perula, Barra De Navidad, and Zhuatineo and never had a problem. The locals are friendly, and helpful.

I've been told that if you mess with the local girls, then you are asking for trouble. Resorts are usually pretty safe, Usually the drug community wreaks the havoc.

Yep, I’m sure if I hit on your wife as a visitor to your country you’d open a can of whoop a$$ on me too lol. Yah west coast small towns are awesome, friends own a house in Pv for decades and never seen big problems...there always there too.
big city’s and big population of people coming and going = opportunity for the crime to grow.
stay thirsty my friend.

Went to Mexico a few years ago and honestly don’t care for it. Me and the wife like exploring the countryside and can’t stand staying on the resort property for the whole trip. How every in Mexico I would not randomly explore the country as I don’t really feel like being captured by the drug cartel and held hostage for money then getting murdered anyways. I’m In Hawaii right now and we feel 100% safe. Sure it’s costs more but knowing when I’m randomly hiking the forest to some sweet waterfall I found online I won’t get murderer it’s a good feeling.

Several trips to Mexico in the Las 15 years and have never experienced a problem. We rent cars and do exploring with no issues. Key is not to be a idiot. Don't be flashing cash around, limit jewelry exposure and treat them with respect. I feel safer there then most places in the states

I would go if it were a few buddies going together but to bring wife and children I think not!!! We would not be easy prey in numbers but evidently a young woman by herself has never been a good situation to be in , anywhere in Mexico!
