ok so heres the deal. got my sxr with a 121" track how would it do in the mountains if i put a 2.5 or 3" paddle on it? or am i out to lunch here? just curious.

You would do much better when the snow is setup. In the powder you may get stuck alot. Hopefully the guys you ride with have patience.

i dont think there is a 121 3" track.

better off to slap on a 144x 2.3 or 2.0 camo extreme that way you dont have to mess with drivers or anything and you will have an awesome all around machine and could just use rail extensions.

rail extensions?? what are those and how do the work? would that be any easier than buying a whole new slider cage?

Your 700 has plenty of power to turn a 144 x 2" track, you can go a lot of places with that track. I kept my 700 Summit with a 144 x 2" (because every now and again it's a riot to drive the smaller track especially through the trees) & I could go most places. The only time your going to have issues is deep powder climbing hills & if you stop facing up hill in deep powder otherwise it is respectable. JMO

rail extensions just extend your existing skidframe to the length you need. 121-144 is comon and the extensions are about 100$ and just bolt onto the back of the machine in about 20 minuts. however changing the track is the difficult part.

it wouldnt be any eaasier to buy a new skidframe. but would cost alot more.

buddy ran a mxz 800 for a couple years with a 121 x 2 , just duct tape the throttle open and you will have a blast :d

Back in the day of the old 700 twin shaker Cat, a buddy put on a 2 inch X 121 paddle track. The sled was extreamly good at augering holes and wouldnt go any where in powder. Not a good idea. You have the power to turn a 151 X 2 inch but I wouldnt want to stretch your existing suspension that far. I would go with the 144 X 2. My first 2 years in the mountains was on a 1986 Phazer with a 116 X bald track. I then long tracked it to a 133 X 1.25. Sure glad those days are gone
