Woodlands County (VEGA)Fire Ban

I emailed the mayor of Woodlands County if theres a Fire ban in county,namely Vega Area ,,for the upcoming May longweek gathering of ATVers.

Mayor Jim Rennie emailed back

Dear Ken
Yes, there is a fire ban. I will pass this on to administration to get some signage. We have quite a police presence planned for the long weekend, and hope to keep some of the problems to a minimum. thanks for the heads up. Please keep me posted.

hey Ken I have been keeping an eye out for fire ban there for the same reason. Both the "Alberta fire ban" website and the Woodlands county website and neither show a ban in place. maybe this is just for the long weekend?

Hopefully not. It's way too dry out here. The town of Whitecourt has instituted a complete fire ban now.

I just call Woodlands county office,..no fire ban as of yet, except for the town of Whitecourt.... there is rain in the forecast for this week tho.

I quad north of the Vega road from friends place to the river last weekend, WAY to dry for fires, Hopefully there will be signs and it will be enforced. thats one of last legal riding areas left for us here. the Tree huggers and Horseman have taken the south side of the highway.
The County already took Cats to the big sandhill that dirt bikes and ATVers have been climbing off the Ferry Road. a few bad ones ruined it for the good ones.

ANYONE Planning to camp the 3 days out at VEGA should bring as much Water as possible. I plan on bringing a 100 gallon tank on my car trailer,hooked to a small gas driven water pump.
and DONT Litter please.
County is already thinking of Banning us from there. its the slobs that ruin it for rest of us.
