Wolverine or pioneer

Kind of have it narrowed down to either pick up a 700 Honda pioneer or the Yamaha wolverine.
Anyone here own either one pros and cons?

We have the Pioneer 1000-5, awesome machine, although there is apparently 1 hiccup, the clutch. It did not fail but hubby knew something was not right with it, not engaging smoothly . We just got ours replaced on warranty, and so far the new one works great, apparently the last one was burned, had about 1500 kms on it, hubby says the new one shifts flawlessly , at least for now. We will see. Do some research online. Other than that, machine is quiet, smooth riding and shifting. Hauls 1000 lbs and stays level, we bring logs back to camp all the time, and can pull 2000 lbs. Hubby uses the turf mode the most, easiest way to drive, even through mud. Yesterday he said again how much he loves driving this thing. We have a roof and a full glass windshield and you stay nice and warm in it because the engine heat warms up the cab right underneath and on the back of the seat, which are comfortable, great for cold weather riding . Last year we had the canam 1000, he hated it, too noisy, never drove right, and parts would break. And we are easy on our machines . Any way, have fun choosing.

Lots of problems with the Honda pioneer it seems ...
Just not reliable enough.

We demoed one ( Honda 700) for a weekend ... What a pile of crap.
Rode like it had zero suspension travel.
Next to nothing for power . No ground clearance.
In thick normal muddy conditions on the trail , it had to be winched constantly, as it does not have enough power/ low gearing to spin the tires even ...,
Great for going around the farm on smooth fields , useless on any real off road situation.
And countless issues with the transmission....
Typical over hyped Honda hype ..IMO

I would look at a Kawi teryx
Long before the two you are considering. They may be the toughest SXS made ....

Well sheeit guys I don't like hearing the bad news about the Honda. The teryx never seems to come up for sale and probably for a good reason.
There isn't a kawi or cat dealer here anymore so haven't been able to try one or even sit in one yet.
Damn it maybe a 570 Ranger is what I need

We have ridden with them all , the teryx is pretty impressive I must say .... A rhino is not a contender anymore ....
I would find a kawi dealer and take a look . The570 ranger is nice , keep in mind it has popo's lack of quality control and constant replacement of sub quality drive line parts ...
Not sure on price point between the two ...
But if you buy the popo, make sure you get along with the dealers...
You will have a relationship

If you took the time to read all of my posts I think you would understand , looks like you did not so I will some it up briefly ...
I have had great luck with popo , still have a scrammy 1000 which I like very much ..
BUT , I have noticed the quality control
Slip drastically in recent times ...
For example there was never the amount of recalls on my older Rzrs (3) and popo quads I owned ,like there is now !
Not to Mention stop ride alerts / safety recalls /fire concerns / recalls etc ...
I have noticed cheaper axles / bearings / seats / transmission parts / voltage regulators/plastic etc etc just to name a few things . Lately these parts are outsourced to China a lot more & and have taken a serious drop in quality of manufacturing.
I am not alone in this, as these profit based decisions have reduced sales by 23% in Rzrs alone ... So people are getting fed up with the uptick in quality issues ... Obviously.
As far as the ride and functional aspects of the newer machines , they are great .... But the required maintenance & upgrades needed to keep them on the trail is at an all time high . For example : popo refuses to upgrade the CRAPPY reverse chain in the ranger / rzr transmission... If it fails it takes most of the tranny with it most times . Or about 4to 5 k $$$ to fix ....!
The older popo s did not have this ridiculous engineering fault . Popo knows this , and refuses to upgrade it on all models !
So along with all this , and the advance of more competitive machines ( Mav / x3 defender etc)in most utv class's, there is more choice now ....

So in closing I would say no I have not changed my tune , I would suggest that the accounts people at popo got a little to greedy ( once popo had huge market share ) and thought they could reduce input costs and still dominate the competition!
It would appear they are mistaken judging by the demand of rzr owners switching over to the new X3 canam for example ... They can not even supply the machines fast enough to
Meet demand . With the majority being X Polaris owners ...!
So I am not afraid to call it the way I see it , and I will likely change a few more times if I find a brand better than the ones I have now ....

That's a great question ? I do think the quality of popo products have dropped considerably in recent times . Are they junk .. No certainly not . If you run them hard or fail to maintain them .. You will have huge problems !
They require more maintenance, in terms of bearings / bushings / axles /and drive line issues in comparison to other competitors... Simply because they have chosen to use low grade Chinese parts , to cut costs in recent years .... This is a fact .
One ranger we know of can not go 3 km with out it breaking down ... Every ride !!
Now it was not maintained properly at all , and some was drivers lack of skill no question...lol.
But the point is , if you run it hard and don't stay on top of your maintaince, You will be very dissatisfied with it ...
If you know how to drive , and take care of it generally speaking it would be okay .
My canam SXS I run extremely hard and it has been bulletproof, zero issues .
My rzr buddies would have much more general wear issues per mile / no question about it .
Again this is my opinion only .....
However after owning many many Polaris machines ( still do) I don't see another in my near future due to there recent lack of quality control...

Now I know guys are going to say " I have xxxxx k on mine and never had one issue etc etc ....
So , keep in mind these are my finding on my machines that I have bought / paid for/ maintained / ridden ... Not second hand stories ....
And I have owned all the major brands at one time or another ...

I have owned Polaris, Canam and Yamaha products over the years and I simply break it down like this, Polaris has a nice ride but be prepared to do lots of work on them, wearable parts simply wear out to fast. Canam costs you more upfront but if you do simple maintenance you spend very little time fixing them. Yamaha make some nice products but are out dated and low power, but much more reliable than a Polaris.

Those are very general comments but im my experience the ATV/UTV's that I have enjoyed the most are Canams.

lol, some heavy sales bs going on here,lol. not sure if the preacher is trying to convince you or himself. must be on some sort of commission program or that doo juice is more powerful than anyone ever new. lol. we heard the same bs about how good this was and that was no good, has been real peaceful since we stopped listen to the BS.

you need to decide what type of riding you doo, what your riding buddies ride, what does the local shop sell. not fun waiting weeks for parts, or driving hundreds of miles to get something fixed. yes brp has good machines as does AC, polaris and yamaha. even the chinese knock off SxS's went places the preacher said they couldn't and with a inexperienced woman driver? who'd a thunk it. lady was all smiles when the preachers jaw hit the ground lol.

That's what happens when the bean counters get highly involved...lol
However I expect that with all the lawsuits, warranty costs , rebates,and huge drop in sales ....
They might rethink their strategy somewhat . It has hit them
Hard in the pocket book ,especially in
Stock prices & lost sales. So that is where the # guys pay attention.

Look for left over non current units , you get a huge break in price & don't have worry about what the previous owner did / or did not do to the machine...
Also more often than not it comes with a longer warranty....

The premium used SXS hold value quite well, so sometimes it's better to find a leftover new model for only a few bucks more....

I wouldn't consider the Honda I been around few and just don't see where they get there good name? I think the Wolverine is twice or even three times the machine. But like said I would look at the Kawi. But I really like my 900 ranger and would recommend it to anyone.

Not a fan of the AC 1000 motor,but the sport 700 with the kymco motor is a great solid unit,....
The new cat coming out should be pretty slick as well. Cat are all over the place...lol some things about my old wildcat i loved,some not so much !
