Snowfall warning for
North Columbia continued
Additional snowfall amounts of 25 to 40 cm are expected through Friday over Columbia district.
Additional snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm are expected through this evening over Kootenay district.
This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.
A strong Pacific frontal system passing through the British Columbia interior will continue to spread snow at times heavy to the Columbia district. Addtional snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm are expected today through tonight. Another system approaching the interior on Friday will give further 5 to 10 cm of snow to the region.
Meanwhile the system is also bringing snow to the Kootenay region. Additional snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm are expected today through this evening before the snow transitions to rain over most parts of the region later this evening as mild Pacific air pushes in. Snow will persist through Friday over the Elk Valley area where cold air is expected to linger longer.
Cold Arctic air combined with northerly winds will produce wind chill values near minus 40 tonight over the Peace region.
