you can bypass the fees..
All you have to do is self clear your items

Wish they had to say these fees upfront! I ordered an Avi beacon thinking I was saving $75 and it shows up with $50 brokerage... What the hell??! Crooks, can I deny the package and have the seller refund me? I've never paid more then $15 duty on bulkier more expensive items in the past.

I always just use USPS expedited. It is just like the easy button at Staples. Pay your GST and $10 handling fee. Done

I got stung by these bastards twice, you think you would learn your lesson the first time. Reship gives you lots of options for shipping of coarse usps has no hidden charges.

Thanks I looked into this, turns out UPS is saying this needs to be done before the package is shipped out, since that it's in Edmonton already they've already done the paperwork to declare it. It's a bit of a run around. For what my times worth I will pay this once and NEVER use UPS again and am already spreading the word about these crooks... I'd rather pay extra to rush usps and know that I won't get gouged later.

Some auctions on ebay now show the global shipping option.I think ebay is trying to earn some extra
coin by getting in on this brokerage fee game that UPS has been playing.
If you buy an item WITHOUT using the global shipping option, you pay for the item and USPS shipping,
then when USPS hands it off to Canada post the package may or may not be charged for GST and a
brokerage fee.(used to be $6 now I've heard $8.50)
All packages going across the border go through customs so I still haven't figured out why just some are
charged brokerage and gst.

If you buy a item using this global shipping option E bay (and other's I'm sure are offering) You pay the GST
and brokerage up front. But I feel this is still a scam cause it cost's WAY more than if you just paid it at your
door.
I just bought an item on ebay,it was $99 and $26 to ship.On my invioce Ebay want's $28 more to pay for the
"Import charges that my country imposes" upfront. The $99 and the $26 gets paid to the seller of the item, the
$28 goes to ebay.
Ebay say's they are offering this new service to save people the hassle of paying these fee's at time of dellivery.
IF my package get's assesed for brokerage and gst I would owe $6-8.50(brokerage ) and $5 gst.Total would be
between $11 and $13.50.They(ebay) wants over 2X what it MIGHT cost me at the door.
Just another money grab IMO.It shouldn't even be legal to do.
