Yep no need to take it out. Although they do have loctite onn them and are a biatch. Heat them first. Then replace them with hex heads makes it much easier.

You will need a full set of clutch tools for install

Ya just take the 4 bolts out and install your helix tool so it doesn't come flying out at you.

You don't have to remove the chain case cover to remove the secondary. So no need to remove the battery that really isn't so difficult to remove to begin with.

Just remove the bolt from the top gear and use a screw driver to hold the gear and chain in place. When you put the shaft back in just be careful to not knock the screwdriver.

While it is apart it is a good time to do the rollers. If doing the rollers pick up new pivot pins. They actually wear on one side.

Like Bounce said. There is a spacer behind the gear...don't drop it, or you're going to take it apart anyways. It's not that hard dude....ask Kokanee800...we did his in about 20 min. Probably needs new oil anyways. If the stock helix has never been off, you will wreck the torx bolts or bust your knuckles 18 times before you get it loose. Just take off the damn secondary.

You can have someone hold the secondary and take the bolt out or before taking the belt off put the park brake on and the bolt will brake loose easy enough. Especially with an impact.

While you are at it go watch some YouTube videos of guys like cudney and dj doing this work.

Take the shaft out .... it's super easy. The bolt comes out in the socket then carefully stick an extension in as you remove the shaft to hold the gear and chain up. Putting it back together is also surprisingly easy although when you take it apart you wonder lol. Don't forget to unbolt the holder on the secondary side that holds the shaft in before you start tapping it out.

i had my secondary off, when i put it back together i used bolts instead of the torex bolts, next time you can use a gear wrench and puller dont have to take the whole shaft out again.

Pull your plug out, set park brake, remove the bolt holding the top gear on, remove bearing retainer on clutch side behind the secondary, release brake, i use a long punch that fits inside the threaded end of the jack shaft and gently tap the shaft out. Behind the top gear there is a spacer if you dont catch it on your punch as the shaft is coming out it will fall into the chaincase, dont forget to back off your chain tension. Hope that helps
