I go pig hunting with dogs in Texas all the time. Most fun you can have with your clothes on. Might even be better than sledding.....

I have wanted to bring some dogs up here the last couple of summers to see how they hunt up here. But trying to find the time. LOL.

And no guns down there. Get 'em by the back legs. Next guy there sticks them with a knife just above the ribcage.

cant see that happening with 600 lb ones.

seen Phil robertson using a shotgun with a scope on it to shoot one on the christmas special.

that son of guns show they were building special guns for hog hunting with civilian m16s.

Probably more for the sake of TV than actual hunting. Lots of rifles on the market that should be able to drop a boar. If it'll drop and elk it'll drop a pig!

I'd be interested in trying some out. Those boar burgers sound good.

Au contraire. Couple of decent catch dogs can hold down a big one by the ears no problem. Only had one where it took two of us to pull the back legs, and that was a big, strong bugger. Remember, their ass ends are quite a bit lighter than their fronts and those big boars have quite the shoulder hump. That is staying on the ground where you lift.

I have never hunted one in the daylight. First - they are nocturnal animals. Second, it is too damn hot. Your dogs would play out way to quick in 100 degree heat. Those 'hoggers" shows are just that - for show.

Because you hunt at night, the first rule is only the lead has a sidearm. Good way to get yourself or a dog shot running through the pinion scrub at night.

I'd say in 20 nights of hunting, never shot a pig.
