Im thinking of picking up a used yamaha phazer mountain lite for the girlfriend to ride. I could also use it in a pinch if my other sled is down for repairs.

She wouldn't be into big hill climbs but i think she would love playing on smaller mountains and in the trees.

I was wondering who goes sledding with their wife/girlfriend and if you do trips with just the two of you or usually go in big groups.

We have prime opportunity to go lots because of our work schedules allow 4 days off in a row quite often so it seems like it would be a good idea.

Also, does anyone do any snowboarding when they are up in the mountains sledding?

Thanks

Hey ..... i think everyone should take the wife/ girlfriend, as long as the wife/ girlfriend will understand that in a 3 day mountain trip you have to give the "MEN" at least one day of being "out with the boys" that means stay at the cabin "or near the cabin" , dont complain that your bored/ Dont wine that you cant go with them that day/ and dont get mad when they come back late....... that way if the guys get at least one day of serious riding they dont find it such a burden to have the ladies tag along..... its give ...its take
At least thats kinda how we do it

or like last year on the renshaw 2 guys escorted the ladies up the front to the saddle and the rest of the guys went in the back way that day and we all finally met up .....that worked too

I ride with my wife but she does prefer the trails. It's ablast to see each time how much she improves. she strted last year and we bought a phazer mtn and traded it in for a Nytro mtn half way through. Phazer was just not there on a smaller hill and she got wooried that she would not get up. She loves the Nytro. More solid less tippy
Cheers

I like to bring the lil lady, as i like to talk alot of ch*t. especially since she rides my 900 and passes alot of the boys we ride with. she is a very athletic lady so she has no problem handling that sled. she can even out jump so of the boys!!

we enjoy it!! and she dosen't come all the time if it is cold or the guys i am going with are a lil pocco loco, she'll stay home.

Man I wish I knew how to do that quote thing!! What not the wife said...well sorry but BOO..some of us ride just as good as the guys we go with and when we go with them we expect to ride together. That is not every group..I get it! IF hung over or don't want to ride..great..but to love to ride and sit back while the "boys" go, well really why waste your time driving to the mountains to sit around. Now back to the topic of this thread...

We (husband and myself) ride as much as we can. I say if she loves to ride you should take her!! Think of all the more time you can spend in the snow!!

I ended up picking up a phazer. Found an 07 with 240 km's from a super nice guy down by Calgary. Not sure if he is on here or not but thanks Doyle!

The girlfriend is tickled pink right now and im looking forward to doing a lot of riding this year.

It all boils down to what type of girl your with, because i promise you will se another side of her on the first day you go sledding together. My suggestion is to stay off the big hills for a few years. I would also recomend doubling for the first trip or two because you going to hear "I AM COLD" all day long. Dont forget to mention that if she would help in the getting unstuck process she wouldnt be as cold. I started taking my girl friend a few times last year and it was hit and miss, for me and for her. Its hard to explain to your buddies that you cant go into certain area'a cause the ball and chain are weighing you down. Other days are good if there isnt too much deep snow, cause you will be sore and tired. Many people do organise groups adn couple rides and in my past experiance that is the better way to go. Get your buddies to bring their wives or GF along, its good for them to meet people with simaler intrests and experiance level. There really is no right or wrong answer its like asking the magic 8 ball, who know what your going to get!!!! GOOD LUCK

oh sorry lady didnt mean to offend in the slightest... i wasnt including seasoned riders ..i was speaking in terms of the girls i go with (the significant others) and at our ability level....i am super aware that there are the girls who can really ride such as yourself.... but the original post was a question if he should buy her a sled and bring her which brings me to the conclusion that she is probably not the pro you are....am i right?...who knows...but thats all i was saying is that its worth it, but at the same time if there is not that give and take it sux for both , like if shes no pro but they decided to ride as hard as they would if she wasnt there she might get a) frusterated or b) into a scary situation ...and then it sux for her...if she slows him down everyday because shes just learning ..it sux for him... so u should find a comprimise according to ability level...thats all iwas say....but i should shut up...gawd im a rambler

My wife rides my old 2000 polaris rmk 800 156", and she always enjoys it, whether it's just us or with a group. We travel to golden, revelstoke, sicamous, and fernie. Our trips are 2-3 days and we ride 30 to 40 days a year. She comes every other time just to give me a chance to go crazy without having to teach and keep an eye on her. I don't mind her being there because she is always trying different things. Shes caught on to stepping from side to side when climbing and loves every minute of sledding. I guess I'm lucky. One thing to remember for everyone "the throttle is your friend":Happy4:

I know a couple chicks that have husbands that love sledding probably as much as lots of us do.. The best part is watching a bunch of guys highmarking a hill and one of the girls go up to someone and askif they mind if they tried out there sled, and they let them and then they go and highmark the guys marks that own the sled.. It's funny to though how someguys take real offence to that.. My opinion is if you love to ride then ride.. I expect that me and quadster will go a trip or two together this winter, she is pretty much a beginner at the mtn's but i just remeber that at one time iwas a beginner to.. And my buddies that were more experienced ddint get pissed at me while i was learning..

:d Me and a buddy of mine been riding since 97 with my wife and daughter, his wife and their 2 kids. The kids are all pretty kick-ass riders now. My daughter is in college now, so I sold her sled, but, our ladies go into places that some guys have second thoughts about. A lot of pulling out sleds for the first while (ours and the ladies) but not so much in the last few years. I get a lot more riding in with her, than I would without, and it is something we are both pretty jazzed about. It would be nice to get together with some other couples sometime. We spend a lot of time riding in Sicamous. Hopefully we'll cross paths out there.

Well i don't ride with the Ex-wife. But i do take my daughter with me a couple times a year. First trip she rode a 600xc 136" with 2" paddle at 12 years old. Had to upgrade to a M6 153. Excellent power and goes whereever we need her to get. Promblem is she parks it and takes my 900 166" when i stop to chat with the boys. But all is well.:) It will take a good young lad to keep up with her in the future.:d And pack a couple of pop for the old guy.
