That's a very tough question to answer, & I don't think it is a level playing field to compare riders from different eras. The Hurricane rode like a wildman, as did Bailey, Johnny O'Mara, Ron Lechien, Jeff Ward, Mark Barnett, etc. They had to, as the suspension and chassis (let alone the rest of the bike) is ancient by today's standards. Landing nose down in 1977-81 was a sure-fire trip to the emergency ward, or at least bent 38mm forks (boy, I remember when 41's & 43mm's came out - they were the bomb. If I have to choose just one based on Supercross, I'd have to stick to McGrath, as he changed the game and really added crowds to the stands. "Showtime is one of the best S/C riders of all time IMHO.
