Hey Sledgirl, try to remember that crown land, where I suspect that most of the sledding occurs, belongs to all of us, not just LOCAL sledders.

It looked to me that there is enough snow for every one. We were out from 9am till dark Saturday, and the only other sled we seen was at the gas station in Swan Hills. LOTS of SNOW, and the locals were freindly, especially when the Cummings turbo would'nt fire Sunday.

Hmmmm, Sledgirl, while I can understand your point, you are making us look greedy. Like W O T said, its all crown land. And remember, that the city people have a good two hour drive to get out to these area's. I don't think that its a huge deal for us to drive a little too. We are pretty spoiled in Whitecourt, being able to ride right from town, in my opinion anyways.

I agree. There are so many places to ride. I know of 5 or 6 places that I don't think I could even GIVE directions to as there is soo many lefts, rights, "y"'s ect. But having worked in the "patch" around here for many years, I just know how to drive there. Sledgirl if you and your kids run out of room to play, PM me and I'll go out with you some time. Be prepaired for DEEP.

How many untouched places do you expect LOCAL sledders to find now that you've posted directions on the web?

I prefer not to have to take my kids 3 hours away to sled fresh snow, untrampled by 100 sleds a weekend.

What a poor attitude. Get out there and explore. There's lots of snow for everyone.

Trails are great with the 3 to 4" of fresh on top of the groomed snow. Went out to Carson cabin this afternoon and had a great ride. We were girls this morning and couldn't brave the -31 to go to the Swan Hills Rally. Heard it was a good time. Did anybody go?

All trails are open and in good condition with 6cm of new snow in the past week. Accumulation to date is 52.5cm. Trail grooming is ongoing, temperatures permitting.

Caution is advised in areas of logging and seismic activities which are crossing the Golden Triangle west and north of Letter K on the route map.

Rode the Swan Hills Rally today and the weather really came around. -12 and sunny. Trail system was good and well groomed. Didn't meet sledgirl anywhere though.... oh well!!!!

:I rode the trails in whitecourt for the first time, and all I have to say is wow, KUDOS to the whitecourt trailblazers members, the trails are fantastic well marked and you can go almost anywhere around the town plus If you live around the golf course the folks can leave right from there back door, and that nice. I don't know what the bylaw rules in whitecourt, but when I lived in fox creek you could leave right from you back door anywhere in town, But as long as you were leaving town you could drive on the streets.
It's pretty discouraging for me to load up my truck to drive 5 min to the staging area here in edson.
Again I had a blast riding the trailblazer trails in whitecourt, for the amount of snow on the ground the trails are in fantastic condition I will definatly be heading back there again this winter, but only if I can't get to the steep and deep.

Can I use my casino cash in the new casino there?LOL

brew_doo and I went out towards Virginia hills today to put a sign on one of our cabins. Unfortunately after we finished we ran into some blinding sunlight and freezing snowdust, it was torturous, we barely survived. I have pics but can't upload them.

SNOW DRIFTING AND BLOWING SNOW EXPECTED TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY MORNING. THE POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE WINTER WEATHER EXISTS OVER THESE REGIONS.
AN INTENSE PACIFIC DISTURBANCE WILL MOVE ACROSS NORTHERN ALBERTA TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY MORNING. AS THE SYSTEM MOVES THROUGH THE NORTHERN PROVINCE PERIODS OF SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED WITH AMOUNTS ANYWHERE FROM 2 CENTIMETRES ACROSS THE SOUTHERN REGIONS TO 5 TO 10 CENTIMETRES ACROSS THE NORTHERN REGIONS.
