According the the Trailblazers website "The non-groomed trials are now open", so we turned around at the gate and used another trail system (Carson trail) and came back onto the Golden Triangle and found NO gates. Open or closed. I don't understand why that one gate would be closed anyway, when the Trailblazers that look after those trails have pictures of the Vice President at the Gundy cabin as well. There were CLEARLY hundreds of tracks that went up and around the gate too.

Where is the gate you are speaking of X-Treme? I am unaware of a gate between the eagle river staging area and the Gundy Cabin unless Forestries have installed something new on the Huestess Forest loop shortly after you leave the staging area headed west...

When you leave Eagle River, and head North (following the highway) for about a km, then you make a 90 degree turn left (West), there's a gate right there. Like I said, there were hundreds of tracks up into the bush around the gate, but we didn't wanna be "those guys", so we just turned around, and headed west to Carson Cabin first, and then followed the Carson Trail back towards the Golden Triangle, and never saw another gate. Continued on west to the Gundy Cabin. Was an awesome day!

Sounds like a new gate was put up on the old forestry road... I don't recall it being there last year. I will check into it and find out why it would still be closed.
