Which would you rather Own: 2012 Stock 155" Pro RMK or 2011 M8 153 Race Gas Turbo?

I am supposed to pick up a 2011 M8 Race Gas Turbo this weekend for $9700 (500 miles, intercooler, boon docker set up 153" MINT) buddy deal

But, I just bought my new PRO RMK in November and that sled does amazing. I'm not the greatest rider and the season is coming to an end is this M8 worth buying? I could have it for next year but I'm not sure if I should sell the Pro instead. Everyone says they would rather have a turbo and once you turbo you won't want to ride a stock sled again. The M8 for the price seems to be an awesome price but what will it be worth next season, I'm seeing new stock M8s selling for 8200.

Turbo's are much more fun but a pro rmk turbo would be much better however that is $7500 on my 2012.

I guess what I'm wondering is what would you rather run? even if you are a intermediate rider? The pro I'll loose 2k if I sell it, holding on to it just isn't the best idea.

Thanks for your thoughts:) Carl

Just thought running a Turbo would then give me the ability to keep growing and have a huge platform to work with especially for an amazing price. The pro is without a doubt underpowered but 265hp is um dangerous lol I did ride a 2009 yesterday, it was amazing... I could always turn down the boost (volk Built the sled, Eric Woog did the tuning on this 2011 Sno Pro).

I would keep the pro for the rest of this season and maybe until next season and then slowly work into the M8. But I wonder if I should buy the M8 now especially since our snow is absolutely crap this year in Colorado. For a similar sled it would cost me $11-12k. My pal spent $20k last year november on this. Thats a ton of loot

I'm only going to get better at riding, but i just don't know if I should waste cash now on this thing or if I should turbo my sled next winter or the following year.

price is right forsure,, im 30,,ive been riding mountains since the early 90s consider myself a expert level rider and i ride a stock xp.. ive rode turbo pros 250hp,, turbo nitro350hp climbers..300hp psi big bores and they are fun forsure when they work..but those guys ussually spend more time f*%kin around with there sled then riding in my experince,,pros are a little under powered tho..i ride between 6000 and 9000ft most the time... so if your in colorado riding at 12000ft+ then turbo might be a must tho... if so the cat sounds like a good score

most of our riding is 9k + , I have been riding exactly 1 year lol but I picked it up very quickly and rode with a couple Experts 2 weeks ago while they were filming boon docker#9 video. Those guys are insane.. I get laughed at by VOLK for wanting to turbo my Pro RMk since i'm so new to the industry haha.

But again, for the dough seems like 9700 I couldn't beat. I would have a 2nd sled to grow into (big powder days is when I would need that turbo) then have a PRO RMK to cruise around and play when its a more chill day riding. I don't know, I was just really curious to hear what people thought or if it was worth buying. I see 2008s for 7k, 2009s 8k and 2010s for 9k but thought for sure this 2011 would be a 12k sled maybe in december next year its worth 11-12k and can sell it then turbo the pro or just don't do any turbo. Mixing fuel sounds like a major PITA.

Appreciate your thoughts, I'm 37

Kinda sounds like you already have your mind made up:D You'll like the power of the TM8, but miss the handling of the PRO...

The TM8 is the easiest Sled to tune. Once it is dialed in it is a pull the rope and go and once you have ridden a Turbo that works you will never go back to a N/A Sled. The M8 set up properly handles very well also. If the Pro was the one to ride then you would see Davidoff and the rest of the extreme riders who push their iron to the limits riding them. Just my 2 cents.
I am interested in the TM8 if you decide not to buy it for that kind of money. I have a twisted extreme TM1000 and love it, @ 10 pounds it pulls like a freight train and makes close to 300 HP. It is capable of running @ 18 pounds and make close to 400 HP but 10 pounds seems like more than enough for me and I've been riding in the Mtns for 20 years.

keep the polaris,, dont buy the pussy cat.friend here runs those turboed pussys and is always rebuilding em.reliablity means more than short term power..if that pussy blows up up in the MTNS,,that helicopter will cost you small fortune..

Definitely keep the pro. If you get to the point where you want more.........turbo your pro. Some really reasonable turbo kits out now. With the money you wont lose by selling the pro (the 2k) thats almost half a turbo kit. And you can just have it put on once you need it. Turbos are NOT pull the rope and go. There are a few out there......but not many. Ive had them, a bunch of my friends have had them, and we are all back on N/A sleds. Im not saying turbos arent cool, they just arent for everyone. I did it twice before i learned! Something to be said about just going out and pulling the rope and riding.

keep the pro and turbo it! yes davidoff and a couple others have turbo cats but there are a lot of turbo pros out there burandt, adams, skinner, I do beleieve a couple of the boost brothers got turbo pros as well! lots of good kits out there but ask any owner of a turbo like deaner says it is not always pull that rope and go! I have been on the fence with a turbo or just some aftermarket bolt ons on my sleds and i have decided to run just some different little bolt ons and keep it simple and stock! these sleds at 160 hp (etec) go everywere you need them to go yes a turbo is fun thats forsure but for reliability you cant beat a stock sled with warranty!

I honestly don't think any stock sled can compare to a new Cat turbo. I mean the thing I love about Cats are their similar handling ability to the Pros. Sure the pros are 30lbs lights but this particular cat is approaching 150hp more, i can tone it down to 200hp (6-7psi) but also bump it up to 10-13 if desired.

What it all comes down to at this point, is it worth $10k? It is a well built sled by VOLK, cost $20k to build and my buddy paid cash for it. I will keep both sleds if I buy, the pro to continue to practice on and the turbo to blaze the deepest powder and side hill the biggest mountain (my favorite types of riding are sidhilling and the powder in the meadows).

I have seen stock M8s selling for $7500 with similar mileage. Anyone have any prediction of what this would sell for next year?

M8 turbos are less reliable, but no horse power drop at elevation which is awesome so I would go with the M8 but make sure to take a compression guage.

Talk to JohniT on this forum about his Turbo'd Cat, I thought he said his was turned by Vohk too....... If you are not prepared to put a $100 bill between your fingers and light it on fire, then you are not prepared to buy a turbo.

Love my pro, but wouldn't mind have a 2nd sled... I don't know maybe a turbo is over the top but lets all remember I'd be buying the sled for half what my buddy paid 500 miles ago. It's a 2011 so not that old. I think on the used market its probably a 11-12k sled

I guess the real question is if you were buying either sled and had the choice of the two which would you buy? A built, reliable TM8 or stock Pro rmk?

Thinking get the Cat, use it learn it and instead of loosing 2k on the pro just keep riding it when the snow is not quite as good where a turbo will smoke anything else and then later on turbo the pro! It is nearly impossible to find this sled for 9500, I don't know anywhere where you can get it, next fall I bet this cat is worth 11k but never know.
