I have been a skidoo rider since 2004 and for the most part no other brand has really interested until now and the new PRO RMK.

I have never riden a polaris before. I have heard they have engine issues? Yet again I am sure all the manufactures could be said they can suffer the same incidents. I do like the rotax engine, but now that I have been out with a few guys that have polaris they just seem to handle awesome.

Has anyone rode both a PRO and an XP?

I have a while obviously before next season to choose but its one or the other for me.

Cant go wrong either way. iam riding a pro this year and love the handling, little low on power but otherwise great. Kinda in the same problem myself not sure what to replace the M with, likely going to a new cat, but that white and orange doesnt do it for me,

The 2012 Summit SP or X with the etec and narrowed stance will be awesome. The 160+ HP of that motor will really be noticeable. I, personally, don't think that the stock Poo's and Cats are gonna be close to the performance of this baby.

Also, if you order before April 17th, there is a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. That's unheard of from BRP!!

But then again.....what doo I know?

The Pro is 154HP and 40lbs lighter the extra 6HP is not going to be noticeable in my opinion but the 40lbs will be of this you can be sure. Sledhead 24/7 voted the Pro tops out of all 2012's. Yes even the turbo cat. Like I and many have said over and over you have to pick what you like to do, every sled shines in it's own way the PRO just does everything well, it is just plain fun to ride. The reason doo is working so hard to change the way the XP handles is to try and make it handle LIKE THE PRO already does if you doubt it your really missing out.

The doo engine will by far outlast the Poo engine Poo's track record with their 800's suck. Look back in the posts and you will see how many peeps were unhappy with their new poo's and lack of Polaris help.:d:beer:

The "official" weight difference is actually 26 lbs, no to mention the extra fuel the poo rider will have to carry to run as far as the doo etech. Engine reliability has been a BIG issue. Both great machines in their own right.

Reading the forums it almost seems common place now a days to have a engine rebuild. I have so far never had to worry about this. My 04 rev is still running fine (engine wise), granted I don't have as many miles on er as I would like to.

Would be expensive but maybe a new sled after the warranty is up is the way to go now a days.

I have never riden a PRO. I rode a XP last trip though. I liked it except for the part of the plastic that stuck out into my knees. The rev was smooth in that area and the XP isn't. Kind of a lame reason to be thinking POO I guess.

I'm in the same boat, 6000 km on my '06 rev and it hasn't missed a beat but I don't really like the XP. I want to try the Pro.

I have since moved away from where I bought my last sled so I don't really have any dealer that has treated me good or bad here.

I figured I could have rented a POO this year to try out, but everywhere I went it seemed to be only doo and kitty cat

All the 800 mtn sleds are close. That being said for the 11's Cats have had electrical problems moisture in the conections hence the previous posts " My cat is posessed it goes into reverse whenever it feels like it". Past Polaris posts many blown 800 motor or my fav Polaris won't help me with my new 11. Pound for pound the XP is the best bet money spent hands down for the long run.JMHO:d:beer:

All these hypothetical innuendoes!

Nobody has mentioned the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. This is amazing. Worth a hell of a lot more that a few pounds difference, or the HP difference (but the 160+ is sweet and nobody can compare with a stock motor).

My understanding, from the reading that I have been dooing, Polaris would be bankrupt if they had a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty.

The gas and oil savings with the etec will be more than just noticeable. Hell, the difference from my 08 to the 2010 is amazing as far as the amount of gas and oil used is concerned. The etec will be sweet!

Try and get out on a pro for a day.You will be amased at how much things have changed since 2004.I ride a 09 Dragon 800 after coming off an old 02 doo.The new sleds are so much easier to throw around and make you a much better rider.Don't believe the Im a DOO for life guys they need to try something diff.I am not brand loyal I just buy what works.I rode an new 11 summit with the carbed motor and it handled like a pig in the boon docking end of things. It always wanted to straighten itself when layed over and required alot of effort to get it to lay over.I demoed a pro for a day and it is as good as they say very easy to throw around, trail manners where much better than my tippy 09 D800.Its a hard sled to get stuck as it powers thru most technicle stuff without trenching and sidehills like no other. The XP is already 5 years old the Pro is turning 2 it and the new unproven cat are the latest and greatest. To me brand loyal means your just plain missing out as eveyone gets a shot at the top and right now its the Pro

the 2010 and earlier 800 engines are the one with problems on the polaris. The new 2011 engine has been good. only a couple have gone down but it seems to be do to low oil consumption. Also the new pro motor is right up there with the e-tec as far as fuel consumption goes.
