WHICH SLED TO BUY? 09 rmk 700 155 or 08 dragon 700 163???

[h=2]Thanks for reading. I need some help on deciding on the two noted sleds. 2009 700 RMK 155 track with about 600 miles, mint shape has risers and scratchers otherwise stock. The Dragon is an 08 700 with 163 track almost brand new. Both within a couple hundred miles and a couple hundred dollars. I am new to the really long tracks, previously had a Ski Doo 144 track and loved to carve and play around in the powder, not much for straight hill climbs.

I guess I think both are good sleds, both will be good buys and worth about the same. I am just wondering if anyone knows of any flaws on the models I should be aware of or if the 163 track is too long and the 155 is a better choice?

Any input would be appreciated.

personly i have a 151 and i love it. i think 163 comes into play when you riding style is concidered. if you are an all around guy 155 will do awesome but clumbing and real real deep snow the 163 will be better either way. best thing to check also with the poo is updates if they were any. dont know much but those poo's some times are bad news

the guy i bought my sled deck off had an 08 Dragon 700 and i believe he blew 3 motors all with under 2000 miles on the chassis...IMO i wouldn't buy a Dragon.If u had a Doo you would also like the Cat,very fun sleds,nimble...I would suggest a 155,great all around sled..Do more research and Good Luck

Thanks for the heads up. You sure it was a 700 not an 800? I know the 800 motors are having many issues from 08 & 09. Never heard anything bad about a 700 polaris CFI. Anyone else know of this? Thanks guys, appreciate your time.

The 700 also had clutch issues, i rode one for a season and went through 4 belts, if i were you i would really do some homework

yes it was the 700,i thought it was only the 800's as well but i guess not..Like Cadman said do your homework

The 09 RMK 700 155 is an awsome sled.The 700CFI engines are very reliable.We have 3 of them in my group,one being my wifes.I have ridden it many times all day and it does not have the bottom end torque of the 800 but on top they are very close.I have had 0 issues with her sled,no flat spots in the engine unlike my 09 Dragon 800 which had the mid elevation bog.The D800 is gone and my new 800 pro is ready for pickup.I would definatly go for the 700 over the 800

Get the 155. Best all around. I got a 2009 dragon 800 , 155. And love it! Perfect for hill climbing, carving, boondocking, get one and you won't be disappointed. Run good gas and take care if it and you won't have any problems. My friend has a 2007 dragon 700 155 and he keeps up with me. We also ride with a guy who has a 2009 dragon 800, 163 and he doesn't do any better. I love my Polaris and no problems yet at 1000 miles. Don't know what everyone is talking about. And I,d stay away from a Cat if you plan on doing any carving,sidehilling, boondocking. Because they are absolute pigs, don't know how people ride them. Get the 155, An amazing sled.

If your just riding in the steep and deep go for the 163" if you want to use it for any flat land riding I would go with the 155" The 700 has a much better reputation a than the 800 and is very close on performance.

keep in mind 163 is more track and tunnel. for what your gaining. both are good though. 174's are for strickly hillclimbing. but 163's can be used for the same purpose as a 155.

I'll just chime in on track size here. 90% of the guys I ride with, have a 154" track. They get around just fine. One guy I ride with is really light, and can go higher on his 154 than I can get my fat a$$ to go with my 163. Yet we can both get stuck on the smallest of hills haha.

That extra tunnel and track makes for a more cumbersome ride if your doing ditches and jumps. I own a 163" 800 and find it a bit much for riding around home!Trench

How do you guys find carving and side hilling on the 163 track? I am just not sure I will like the 163...thinking the 155 might be better for me?

i have a 08 700 Dragon 155, it pulls good, keeps up with the 800's, climbs pretty good, and is nimble for a small guy like me (120 pounds). i think i have around 1200 miles now on it, the top end was replaced on warranty though.

I would go with the 163 and the only thing that ive seen go wrong with the 2 that ive rode with is that the computer on one had issues after 7000kms and took the motor out

nothing man. The older cats aren't as nice to handle as a Polaris or a doo. The new cats should be better though.
