Which half ton to buy?

We have a fleet of around 100. We went Ford, Dodge and now back to Ford, with a few Gm mixed in. I’m told mainly because Ford offers the best Fleet pricing of the big three.
Service manager says dealing with Ford fleet management is also less of a head ache. We have had very few problems with the Ford trucks.

Can't compare cost of ownership of a personal vehicle to a fleet though. Different brands at different times will offer better fleet discounts that account for a lot of the difference in cost of ownership. From what i've heard dodge doesn't offer near the fleet discount of ford or gm hence the difference in the amount of gas pickups you see which then it makes sense to buy the others.

I agree. they are all over priced imo but spend some time driving them. I have even brought my holiday trailer to test all how they handled it. for what its worth, the company I work for buys about 2000 trucks a year. they wont buy fords with 3.5, only 5.0 and very few, too many issues as mentioned. they seem split on dodge and gm but the dodge trucks are 3-4 times more expensive to operate so been seeing more gm trucks lately. our fleet guy says the numbers don't lie, gm is the cheapest to buy, operate and best resale value. ford is barely better than the dodge trucks in costs, etc. all trucks are gas, no diesels. I have driven all 3 and each have good and bad qualities.

Either someone doesn't know their numbers or someone doesn't know the meaning of "3-4 times more expensive to operate". I will bet every single penny I have that there is absolutely NO way dodge costs 3-4 times more to operate then a gm does. Maybe a little more, but not 3-4 times.

Encana said the cheapest to operate was the Ford or Chev/Gmc. Toyota was more and a Dodge was the most expensive.
Toyota took a hit due to poor fuel economy.
They only run Ford / Chev / GMC Due to cost.
If I remember right the Dodge was 20% higher

Any fleet manager will tell you that by far fiat trucks are the most expensive and least reliable to operate. Ford and GM are very close to a wash in operating costs, typically the GM’s have lower fuel costs and the fords have fewer repair costs. I have a buddy that is the fleet manager for a good sized operator and he confirms that fiats have the highest operating costs and consistently bring much lower prices when sold at the end of their service.

I caught that as well, but just kept on reading. Maybe it is 3% or 4% more.

I got an 18 f 150 with 3.5 eco, average is 11.8 per hundred

Mostly city, last year went to Kelowna and back, averages about 10.8 all highway

my dodge averages 18l/100km on the highway around 30l/100km driving around revelstoke. maybe I should look at a cyber truck from tesla :p

GP to Edmonton when I traded it off .
All stock 2017 6.2 Denali . Reset when I fuelled up in GP.
Have had a few of these and they all seem to be close to the same .

But pull anything or load them up and they like fuel the same as all of them.

I should have snapped a pic of the overall on trip 2 .
89000 kms and the average was 14 with all the idling during winter .
The new Ford isn’t as good but 35 inch tires and 450 hp eco .

I have gm and dodge trucks and can't get any where near the milage you guys get. 15/100km is about the best I've ever seen in a truck.
