I know its a dumb question but I just bought a 2008 M1000 162" and would like to know the best place for it.

Drill two holes in your snow flap and put it in your backpak. If you get pulled over tell the ranger that it keeps falling off and you have to carry it in your pak. Works for me.

if you've gone through the trouble of drilling the holes you may as well mount it.
