What's your kids riding?

Don't have kids, but Dad started us on a 70's 340FC Moto-Ski Nuvik. No throttle stops or anything like that. We were riding that from as far back as I can remember. When I was about 6, Dad let me run up and down the field with his mod 440 Super Sonic - that baby taught me some respect for horsepower! I had a healthy fear of doing something stupid with that thing!

Of course, every kid is different. Some have a bit of healthy fear of hurting themselves, others not-so-much... but all 3 of us kids grew up to be confident riders on any sled. When I was about 15, Dad helped my buy a 1979 Blizzard 5500 (I had to pay half from my part-time work). He helped me to repair it, clutch and tune, and make some improvements. Since then, my sled has only been limited by my budget and creativity.

I have a Kitty Cat for my 4 year old and a Snow Scoot for my 6 year old. I installed a remote kill switch on the Kitty Cat a few years back and it works awesome. It has saved the little ones many times from running into things they shouldn't.

I have drank a lot of beer watching these 2 sleds go in circles on the lake.

thanks powder, grandson is getting his first sled for xmas at 4 years old and we were trying ti figure out how to make a remote kill switch, i just ordered one $100 shipped is perfect.

My kids??? Well you just don't want to know what they are riding............My kids are a little long in the tooth for the "typical kiddies sled"..........

Back in '77 they were riding an Elan............enough said!

My dad started me out on a 120 dragon at the age of 7. Then I moved up to a 300 freestyle at 8. The 300 freestyle is a prefect little machine for anyone that wants to take there kids to the mountains but doesn't wanna wait for the 120 to come up the hill. This was the first sled I rode in the mountains. After the 300 I got moved up to a 2007 Polaris 600 rmk at the age of 10. I rode this sled for 3 years before my dad said he wanted the new 2012 pro rmk. So I got moved up to his old 800 dragon at 13. Which is what I'm riding now at the age of 14.

My son is riding a Yamaha Phazer and he loves it. We had an Ovation before and just out grew it, both the Ovation and the Phazer have electric start, heated handle bars and a large visor to keep him warm... With kids, they tend to get cold much quicker than us adults. I would recommend getting something like a 340 or 440 with electric start and a large visor.

My son, who's 16 now, started riding when he was 3 on a Z120. He has had many sleds over the years and now is riding a 2008 M8 with a few mods. We started taking him to the mountains when he was 10 on an M5, then he spent a few seasons on an M6 which in my opinion was an awesome sled to learn on. My 14 year old daughter has ridden over the years, and likes it, but she is not totally crazy over it. She likes to go on easy rides to the lake, or trails, and can always "borrow" her brother's sled if she really wants to go. We sold her 1996 Puma 340 to a real awesome family (Sledmamma's) and I know her girls will have a blast with it. However, my big kid is crazy about sledding....and sometimes lets his need for speed catch up with him. He hit a big dead tree going UP the Burn last season at the Torpy.....to say the least his Dad wasn't impressed! But, now that he has a good job he can pay for the chit that he wrecks!

Id recommend an Indy Lite. Had one when i was young. Awesome sled, reliable, faster but not 'scary' yet. I think it worked pretty good stock.
