To my knowledge every drop that is made at the Lloyd upgrader goes into rail car's heading for the border.
So, IMO the supply and demand stance is BS.If 5 out of 10 gas stations were sold out, then yes it is possible
for the guy with the full tank's to rape on the price, but that is not the situation.
We are getting bent over plain and simple.

Yep exactly the same as you.
The fuel costs have dropped by 30% with driving a 1/2 ton.

Sorry that is a load of crap!!
You can go to Hawaii and buy fuel cheaper than here ?
Don't see to many drill rigs on the island ?
Sorry ! Lol

There may not be drilling rigs but there are two refineries on the islands which allow them to produce the products that they require from raw crude coming out of the pacific rim.

They have way more control over their own destiny that we do.

This is for tar sands extraction and it depends on the facility. Total, Fort Hills will be over $90/barrel when it's done while Syncrude can produce it for about $45. If memory serves me, Syncrude was producing it in the mid 90's for about $16/barrel and was aggressively targeting about $13.

I guess when you account for inflation, increased safety costs and increased environmental costs, you could account for much of the cost increase. ...especially considering that "safety" and "environmental" awareness were practically non-existent compared to today's standards. The higher costs per barrel aren't strictly operating costs either, which is a bit misleading - when they're talking about prices like $90+ per barrel, they're factoring in the capital investment to build these massive facilities. That is, the oil companies expect a return on their investment within a certain amount of time, otherwise they would rather defer significant capital investments until such time as they can meet their target ROI.
