what to use to make a red jerry can black?

I have goggled dying plastic and I found quite a number of sites that explain the process with rite dye. Here is a youtube video site that may help. YouTube - How to dye Polycarbonate Plastic

VHT makes a tinted black paint for taillights...it was called nite shades.used it yrs ago for the cars n trucks, even painted my old polaris taillight back in the day and even put the blue dot in the center. looked black until you put the brakes on

you could try spray dye they use it to change interior color

would you be able to powdercoat it?

If painting, try test sample make sure you sand it beforehand might work. They are making some crazy spray paints these days

They used to make a transparent blackout paint for tail lights once upon a time. Had my old 79 ford done with it. Not sure if it's available anymore though.
