Yeah GM claims they don't take trucks back. lol

They probably don't, unless they are sued.

The more of a problem vehicle it is the less likely they are to step up to fix it. They will only fix so many before they are tired of paying and stop unless people sue them. Ontop of that being in Canada we get hosed they don't really care much.

Yeah that's what I'm beginning to see. There is an arbitration program CAMVAP that we could try to use, the problem is we could end up getting nothing and by doing so give up our right to legal action.

We did get the truck back tonight. Everything is running good again for now, Doug Marshall even washed the truck and detailed it for us. And of course still crickets from GM, I think they just keep delaying until the customer gets the vehicle back hoping they'll go away.

We are supposed to get almost -30 weather at night the next couple days, that will be the test for this truck, see if it toasts another turbo.

I see I never updated this thread:

We never ended up getting much out of GM, we argued back and forth for a few months, each time taking 1-2 weeks for them to respond to our calls. Eventually GM offered us $1500 towards a trade on a new vehicle which we declined not knowing what would come of Covid at the time. We were given full extended warranty on the truck until 5 years 120km instead. Really not much, but to us was the best of a bunch of sh!tty options at the time.

I have deleted the crankcase vent and the turbo hasn't had an issue, the vent to the intake is plugged and the crankcase now vents to atmosphere just beside the passenger side upper control arm. I did have an aluminum catch can installed at first leaving the vent still connected to the turbo, as I had heard about CEL codes being thrown from the vent being disconnected. The can froze off the first time it hit -25, pressuring up the crankcase and blowing the rear main seal. Long story short I didn't pay a cent for a new rear main seal, and the catch can got tossed for the vent to atmosphere approach, a year later and it has never triggered a check engine light.

We did have an issue with the DEF lines again this last winter, which were replaced yet again, I believe this is the 3rd time GM has updated this part.

I can't say enough good about Doug Marshall (now Wheaton Chevrolet), they did everything they could to help us out. Quite frankly though I have nothing good to say about GM customer care, they deliberately make the process as difficult, frustrating, time consuming and cumbersome for the customer as possible, in the hope that the customer gives up and either continues to drive the vehicle or sells it, washing GM's hands of any responsibility.

Thanks for the update. My SIL doesn’t have anything good to say about them either.
