what tire

What tire would you choose for riding at Mclean creek? both are 28" and they are both $400

What are we looking at? Mudlite XL's and Swamplites? Swamplites are NOT light, but they are a good tire. Mudlites....well, many people like em, but I am not a fan....could never seem to keep air in 'em. They are light though.

My vote is for the swamplites. I have run both & was much more happy with the swamplites. thats my 2 cents.

they seem to be about the same weight at casterland.com 28-29lbs I thought for $400 and they are pretty new I would try one of these brands. and I'm looking for input thats all

28x10x12 Mudlight is 27lbs...a 28x10x12 Swamplite is 38 lbs. That said...the Swamplite is (IMHO) a better tire.

Having ridden in mclean creek the swamplites would work better than mud lights as the terrain is more rock, if it were more mud i'd look at the mud light tire. Mclean creek is lots of rock gravel uphill down etc. mud that ive seen is near the staging areas, it is beat pretty bad but where we have ridden it is about a half mile or so, then your into rock gravel trails.


Stay out of the now river, they like to fine heavy there

Thanks Dave for the tire weight chart, it put things into a different perspective. I think lighter will be less ware and tare on my machine. And after been out at Mclean this weekend I need a mud tire, nothing but mud wear I go.

I'm not a fan of either one. If you want a great all around tire than try a Zilla. I have 28's on my RZRS, with stock clutching....they work great. I'm pulling them off to run 30's. If you're interested, you can have them for $400. They have around 200km on them.

i have had both and the mudlites are waaay better in my opinion. i just sold a set of swamplites off my 09 brute ad put zillas on. night and day difference. i wouldnt hesitate to buy mudlites again.

If you get 4 ITP tires that all hold air from new then your one of the lucky ones. Especially the swamplites. I have seen it firsthand how many are just terrible and leak air past the beads. Heard more than one tire shop and dealer say they have to buy 2 sets of tires for every set they sell so they can get 4 that will hold air. But if your one of the lucky ones that can get them to hold air, they work pretty well and you can get alot of miles out of them.
