A buddy of mine is looking to upgrade from his mid 70s cat. So anything will be a big improvement.
Wants to spend up to 10 grand.
Rides around Olds and westlock areas.
Don't think he will be riding the mountains.
What would be a good reliable shed for him.

id be looking for a clean low mile etec800 XM they seem to be the most reliable machine in that price category. If hes not riding mountains he might even be able to find a backcountry Xrs or a renegade. I think the new GEN4 chassis at that price point will be beat up pretty bad so better off going with a mint older machine.

I'm not familiar with the terrain in those areas but I would imagine it's a mix of groomed trails, unmaintained trails, and fields. I would be after something with an 800 etec in the XM chassis like a renegade or backcountry. 137-146ish length and max a 2.5 lug.

Same look for a 137 or a 146 inch more than enough track, in a 600 or 800 doo, good luck finding a resonable deal

Quick search on Kijiji…
$8-12G
306 sleds in Alberta
Lots of late model units to choose from…
Pick a lower miles, clean body unit.
I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them.

Xm chassis is pretty hard to beat and are in that price range. Nice sleds and etec 800 is a great motor. But if flat landing it and not looking for huge power a 600 is pretty hard to beat. Cheap to buy go really good and easy on fuel.

Buy two nice Nytros for the same price as a “blow ‘em up” special Etec and they will last 5x longer. Now bring a buddy!
