I just got a text from my dad saying that he will be buying the sled i was about to get and give it to me for christmas. WOOOOHOOOOO! its a 1997 Summit X 670. Blue with 136 x 2.00" track. Since i dont have to buy it im looking to mod it a little. what kind of pipe do you all have on your 670? i was thinking about getting a stinger or mbrp can. is there any dealers in edmonton that have good pipes in stock. what can i get for under 375$?

oh god no please don't do that!!!!!! have some pride - don't build yourself an ugly riser out of square stock steel. All the $$$ you will spend on a lightweight can will be wasted by adding a heavy steel riser, do yourself a favour and get a proper riser with a pivot block, otherwise by adding your homemade riser, the bars will be moved too far back as well unless you can pivot them forward.

Right after that you can make some decals out of DUCT Tape:rolleyes:

If you are worried about noise , leave it stock. Otherwise get a good set of jaws pipes and do some minor clutching. Check if the jets are still stock, if so you can jet down a couple of sizes without doing any harm as long as everything is still stock
Sled will rock!!

You need to make sure sled is still original stock before you start to many changes

the riser im making is not visible because the handlebar cover is long enough to go over the riser. the riser isnt that heavy. its only about 3 pounds in total and im just riding around the farm and in the feilds. i dont care about appearences.

nobody except jaws made more power than the stock pipe. Ski-doo left very little on the table. That is a good engine so leave it alone.

Your best mods are to make it more rideable. Like others have said, risers are a must. Someone should be able to tell if you need throttle or brake extensions if you go beyond 3". I would put a 5" riser on that if it was adjustable like a ROX. They aren't a lot of money and home made risers tend to break at the worst times possible.

It probably has a 136 track. That engine will pull a 144 easily. A 151 is better if you have the right gearing. Look for some decent skis and you are good to go.

Like the others have said, don't make your own riser it will cause you grief down the road and it will be for sure when your way back in the mountains, not out in the field by your house. Leave the pipe alone just but a can on it. If you can put a longer track on as that motor has no problem spinning a 144-151.

They didn't make a '97 summitx. Does it have the non painted tunnel or is the tunnel black?
