What is the best jacket and pants to go with

Hi all im looking at getting some new sled gear because I dont have anything good. i have been looking at motorfist so far and Im liking the big mountain. Im looking at it online so I cant tell how warm it would be. I know some jackets and pants dont come with much insulation because they want you to layer. what are your thought and what brand is the best? I was told motorfist is the best because of the warranty.

I've run Motorfist and Tobe in the past and was totally satisfied. I opted to try FXR gear this season. It fits real nice and looks extremely well made...and also has a good warranty. I will hopefully be able to report more after this weekend!

I'm a Klim guy thru and thru. It's tough. Seen lots of other stuff rip on the knees from the running boards. I prefer non insulated cause you can always add. But you can't take off if there is nothing else to remove. I wear 1 base layer and bibs and jacket to -20. I wear base layer and fleese and bibs n jacket for -25 and colder. But we ride in the trees where it's less wind and more work.

Thanks for the reply thats the info im looking for! I ride alot of trail right now because this is only my second year with my sled. Want to sart going to mcbride and stuff so i want gear that will work all around. So I think the best plane is to layer.

Klim is very good. I have a 10 year old pull over shell that still works awesome. Rained in Revy last year for 6 hrs. Was still warm and bone dry at the end of the day. I just picked up some Ski-doo jacket and bibs. Very nice. I would avoid buying online. You really want to try the stuff on first.

My brother just got some fxr gear that looks really good but he hasn't tried it out yet. I get that layering is better but some of the prices are absolutely insane for what basically amounts to a windbreaker. . Myself I like at least a bit of insulation

I hear you. But some of the best out door stuff is like 500-700 bucks for a shell! Some of the HH stuff is crazy. It's all about keeping elements out but still breathing.

I know that it's good stuff and if others have that money to burn they can go ahead but I hope someone slaps me before I ever pay that much for clothing I'm just going to scrape against branches and trees!

Really? Thats crazy.

Im on my 3rd full year of the togwotee and the stuff is thick and doesn't feel like a guy could cut it with a knife. I have a couple spots I have slightly melted on the pipe but that's it.

Klim is good but overpriced (IMXO).
Klim become so popular because Reima - the first premium snow gortex brand had been sold to SCOTT. And Scott pure marketing policy allowed Klim to raise (IMXO).

?? I just replaced my Klim bib this year after 7-8 years, still looks good just wasn't waterproof any more on knees. My jacket is still good.

Haha, I had the same attitude...... I'm not paying that $$$$$, but then I finally fell off my wallet an bought the KLIM gear and have been dry and warm ever since.

I have the Motorfist Big Mtn jacket. It has some insulation, sort of in between the shell type and the bulky insulated jacket. Has kept me dry and warm last season. Open the vents on those warm spring days. Overall happy with the jacket.
Just replaced my "yamaha" Goretex bibs that I got in '98. These were just a shell so had to wear HH under garment for warmth. After all those years, they still kept me dry. But after several battle scars from branches and running boards, they started to look bad with all the sewing patches. Replaced with Polaris Event bibs, but haven't tried them yet.

Another option, check out your local sled dealers for discounted clothing. There's always a rack of older style or colors that they're trying to move.

Thanks Dutchman. My dealer is not stocking big mtn this year. They would have to bring them in for me. I could not see them or try them on so its nice to hear from a owner what they are like. Thanks.

Klim's warranty is just as good as that of MotorFist. IMHO, it is the best warranty out there. If there is any water leakage (the knees and the seat take a beating) and it doesn't look like abuse) they will replace it. The comment that it lasts a couple years may be attributed to the fact that it wasn't "revitalized" as stated in the directions.

I have the Togwotee bibs, the Valdez jacket(s) and this year the Kinetic jacket. Base layers on the colder days are mandatory on the colder days and basically, the thinnest layer possible on days of -10 and above.

I was a little skeptic on a 5-600$ shell but I love the Valdez parka and the Togwatee bibs. Still warm when wide open, no windshield with just a long sleeve layer underneath in -20, Worth the money.
