I know there are some dams to ride around.
depending on year, it might be mostly frozen over in the kinbasket but the Columbia River stays open. Even in the Kinbasket you should always expect open water in sections. The air temp doesn't get that cold for that long like Sask where it freezes the moving portions over, there's typically some areas that stay open and flowing. some areas like the bays and some of the arms will freeze solid. The Kinbasket is a reservoir so the water level is constantly dropping through the winter. Big ice shelves form and then the water level drops, and there are big voids below them, ive seen over 10 ft ceilings under some of the shelves. You can't really "ride around" the Mica Dam or the Revelstoke Dam easily, not without a bunch of pavement pounding to get to a different access point before the dam and after the dam.I know there are some dams to ride around.
