What happens to a wakeboard handle after it wraps around your chin

Here are some pics of my wakeboard handle my friend wrapped around his chin while he was attempted a backflip. He is in hospital right now jaw broken in 3 places hope he gets well soon. I could have been worse he is lucky that it was only his jaw that broke.

Well i just heard that the plastic surgeon told him that he should only be wired up for 2 possibly 3 weeks so that is good news
