i agree with longhorn,i can buy an 08 x 163 under 500miles for a tad under 7us.8 hr drive.call it 8cdn by the time it's all said and done,my time, well, after purchase i'll sled for a couple then return.that's just one example .i see the sled here for sale for 9to10.i'd rather buy local, and buy used they are just out of line.Plenty of 07's for sale but for close to 8000 and more and with lots o' miles?I can get new for 10.5-11 and full warranty and no abuse,no nos etc.no offence but i can't always rely on someones word, and for 8-9000 for a toy,it's very difficult.1500 for an engine rebuild?maybe the top end.so 7700,plus a 1500 rebuild on an 07,using your numbers, not much of a deal, sorry.that's the consequence of buying new,i can't sell my pick-up for near new price two/three yrs after purchase, more like 50%.:twocents:

the issue is probably pricing. I just listed my 07 summit with a new engine for $6,700 and have had a number of tire kickers and a couple of serious inquiries.. I think it will be gone by the weekend.

If the sled is in near perfect condition, there will be a market for it. Any obvious flaws and the value drops like a stone as nobody wants to by a headache.

X2...If the pricing is right it will sell. I just sold 2 xp's (2008 154") on Kijiji for $8500 each and both sold the day they were listed. Lots were listed for $9000+ on there and there ads were still on weeks after I sold...Not saying you are over priced but if you are wanting top dollar for your machine you need to be patient. I would sooner loss a couple hundred and be rid of it without dealing with tire kickers and lowball offers for weeks @ a time. Just my 2 cents.

The other thing is that every time a manufacturer offers an updated chassis design, the old one becomes worth even less.

Often in times of recession, recreational activities are the first things that people sacrifice - not sure where you got the idea that recreation doesn't suffer. Boats, bikes and sleds are the first things on the chopping block when money is tight - they are the luxury items in life.

Hope it sells soon for ya.

If you paid $14k 3 years ago, you really got bent over. Should'a been $10.5, and half of that is probably a realistic sale value. Nothing depreciates like a sled!

The other thing to consider is that the 07 has a bad rep over the crank issue....great sled once that's fixed though.

I agree with the US vs Canuck prices. We haven't gotten quite as desperate as some of the states have. I've been looking for another motorhome....the type/style/year of the one I want here are going for 90 to 110k (used). Same rig, newer with lower miles in Arizona is 49k.

That is correct it is not 10% 1-3% and it is close to par....Yes time is money, so why not make money while you are going and coming. I have always found stuff to hull down or back and it has always paid for my time and gas....This is a bit more true when buying a sled that is 7500+ but when you get into your 2-3 yr old sleds then I find you save alot more money.....

I agree with Dave B and once you are done with exchange and all the other crap you still be 40 grand ahead. My parents always buy direct with the manufacturing companies. In the states you can buy direct on motor homes and save 80grand on new units. HMMMMMMM

Sledding isn't dying, people are just nuts. I snoop through Kijiji quite a bit, and people are insane. Who in their right mind would pay $6400 for a 2004 600 with 2500 miles on it? Every day there is another handful of dreamers who figure their crap is golden. Price a sled where it should be, and it will sell. I just bought an '06 Summit 800 with 1600 miles on it for $5000. A few guys say "I stole it" for that, but that's a load of crap, that's what it's worth. Just my rant, but if you want to sell something, price it accordingly.

Yep prices just got stupid. I bought my 06 RT1000 162" with 1800 miles for $5000 about 3 months ago. Now the same sled is $6000-$7000. Who is going to pay that? My buddy sold his 07 summit 800 144" about 2 months ago for $7200 within a day only had about 300 miles though. I though that price was stupid, I wouldn't of paid more then $6000 for it.

As far as going to the states, depending where you live you can drive there and back in a day, I was just there yesterday, about 13 hours and $200 in fuel is all it is from edmonton.

On a side note, my sled is going up for sale soon, so I am happy I should get what I paid maybe more. No sledding next year as I am buying a house :(

I would love to buy that XRS, but it's too much$$$
For just a bit more you can buy a new 09 of some sort. I think machines that are around the 7K mark are the hardest to sell, because for 1-2K more you can get a brand new year old machine of some sort.
Selds in the 3-5k area sell easier.thats my opinion.

Depends on the sled.... I see lots of 98/99 670's in the 3-5K range problem is there are also lots of 01-03 800's in that same range... price should be realistic and based on year/size/mileage/condition IMO....

I have attched a list of PCL Construction Company Trucks that are for sale in our Nisku Equipment Yard.

PM me if you or anyone is interested

My brother is looking for a sled EVERYONE is asking to much for the used stuff. Same as trucks I am looking for a 3/4 ton crew cab gas job and same there there either jacked up with lift kits or have all that chrome Sh!t on. look at Kijiji and there are over 5,586 trucks for sale on Edmonton area. Some adds have 1500 hits obviously some thing is going on TOO MUCH cash.
Lower your price and it might sell, the economy is not that great, just ask the govt. if it was hot none of the people would be b tching when it is hot you dont hear about any troubles. agaign lower price and it will sell. Rant:rant:Rant over and out.

There's a place and a time to buy and a place and time to sell. Most people I know don't shop Kijiji, they usually shop Craig's List. I very seldom look for anything on Kijiji. As for a time to buy, shop during the off season. I picked up a beautiful 07 600 Rev with a rebuilt engine for the Wife over the Summer for $4800. This is in Canada, in the same town I live in. I looked at a couple of deals across the line but honestly after all was said and done I didn't see that much of a saving. If the exchange rate is decent. Price of fuel isn't too high and you don't have to go too far it may worth it. Time to sell, right at the start and the end of the season.

Craigslist is much bigger in BC than here in AB...Kijiji has grown amazingly fast in AB and there are fair deals to be had/made. I use Kijiji all the time for eveything from cars/trucks/sleds/quads/boats/campers/trailers ect.......wow come to think of it I buy WAY too much chit....
I bought my boat out of Penticton and used craigslist to find it...different locals use different outlets more than others....
Kijiji Edmonton has over 1941 sleds listed 640 since Jan 01
Craigslist edmonton has sleds mixed in with RV's and there have been 3 new listings since Jan 01.
