do young field engineers make decent coin?

Just started second year electrical engineering.

Depends on the department and which industry you decide to go into out of school, but generally yeah. I guess "decent" is relative though!
Calgary money is "decent", fort mac money in comparison is also "Deeeeeecent"! (Field work you can gaurantee quite a bit more)
When i graduated in 2008, base salary almost across the board staying in Calgary was low end 50K (manufacturing) high end about 65-70K (Chemical and mech) Not too sure about Civil or computer side of things....
You can start out higher if you do an internship though..... or are ok with dirty oil money!
