Madonna, like a prayer :/

Off the album "Immaculate Collection" this song is done in "Q-Sound" one of the best versions, and if your system images well and is reasonably resolving it sounds like the entire church Quire and toms are around you...in a way like you're sitting right in the middle of the whole production. This is one of the songs i use as a reference when I introduce new speakers, cables, or components into my system.

Interesting band, never heard of these guys before. Kinda prog/metal (I'm a fan of both).

Glad you dig it man. Red is my favorite album by these guys. With the exception of their first two, they have an awesome heavy stoner rock feel. First two albums are much heavier and faster.

Try these guys out:

Just havin a pink Floyd evening.......breaking in the Egglestons.
Gymbat your more than welcome to pop by for a listen, however it would not be the first time I was accused of being an enabler.. Quadins cheap compared to audio... (Fair Warning..)
Old-Soul I'll have to see if I can't order a couple of their records digital just looses something compared to analogue. Kinda sounds like a copy with "digital glare". Costs a few bucks to get an analogue front end Rollin however once you got er there ain't no turnin back...

Are those McIntosh amps RonH? Don't recognize the speaker mfr... looks like a sweet setup. That Madonna CD is indeed well recorded, just played the whole thing through my basement system Maggie 1.6's and my old Bryston 4B/BP25/BCD1 combo. I get phenominal imaging downstairs with the shape of the room and semi-scientific arrangement of sound dampening junk :)

Stg2Suby, the amps are Marantz ma9s2's. A limited offering and part of the Marantz reference system I think around 1000-1500 sets ever made. Not only a great sounding system but I'm hoping one of them rare sets that appreciate over time. Funny thing about the Marantz gear it's still around while other more expensive highly reviewed gear has come and gone. Big money doesn't always mean better. I'm kinda a gear head when it comes to audio, things are always changing. The speakers are Eggleston Andra III's, and right beside em Nola Viper Reference III's
I've had several sets of Maggie's, lightning fast and killer imaging. Bryston is recognized as one of the sanest choices in audio also killer sounding. I've had Bryston gear in the past, it usually took 1/2 hour running at moderate levels for it to warm up properly and sound its best (most high-end gear typically needs warm up to really sing). When I say say "big money doesn't always mean better" don't sell your Bryston gear even by today's standards your Bryston/Maggie set up will be hard to better even in that 10-15k snack bracket. While there are a lot of nay-sayers if you haven't already look into "pure copper" aftermarket power cables and interconnects (balanced if possible). Audioquest makes NRG 10 power cords and Colorado IC's which well mate well with Bryston. For speaker wire Kimber has their "TC" line, you do not have bi-wireing on your Maggie's so 4TC or 8TC will work fantastic. On the used market cables usually hit a price point then stay there so little or no risk in that you can usually get what you've paid for em.
The Maggie's are a great match for the Bryston given the low impedance dips and efficiancy, wattage is just a number it really comes down to current and stability which the 4b shines. You need this to have a vice like grip on the Maggie's, I've seen a lot of people disappointed in their Maggie's when in fact was their amplification that was not up to the task.
The room plays a big part in the sound, dampening/eliminating those "first reflections" is big, not to mention standing waves. There are many recipes for DIY sound traps and Bass traps, I've built a few myself. Your local so if you need a hand with this lemme know....
