I have never heard anyone thats moved here from out of province say they loved Alberta. Try to find one that plans to retire here. They come and whine about how much they love home and cant wait to move back to where ever they came form. Even if they work their whole life here its always the same... Retiring elsewhere. Now their may be a few but the majority is the same. Tell me I'm wrong.

When it comes time to vote are they voting for what's best for Alberta or where they plan on going back to.

I know many who now consider Alberta home, will I retire here????? likely partially I'm not looking to give up the lake house, but most of my time will likely be split between BC and a southern beach..... Retiring back east would not be my choice. I think you maybe have met the wrong easterners.....might have something to do with your pizz poor attitude towards us - if your the guy spouting off in the bar about how Easterners are ruining your province most of us have likely not introduced ourselves....

but hell I know lots of azzhats both from Alberta and Back East...

Well now you know one more because I'm from Nova Scotia. And ashamed of it! You completely took my post the wrong way. Which is most likely my fault.

I would consider a true Albertan someone who lives here and is proud of it, makes decisions to benefit Alberta. Looks out for the provinces best interest etc.

I'm from back east. NS. I moved here in 2006 due to the lack of work back there. I love AB, always have and always will. I vote for AB, and yes i plan on staying here for ever. Too many folks back east have their heads buried in the sand. There could have been enough work back there but everybody always protests against it. They wanted to Frac, nope lets protest. STrip mine, nope lets protest (because it makes sense to operate the Coal fired power plants from coal shipped in form the US). Then they bitch about having to travel out here to work, leaving their families behind and then vote to fawk us out here. Idiots. Not all, but alot...

Easterners who come to work here want to change it so there's no work here? That's an interesting theory. Seems like a bit of bass akwards thinking to me.... Why exactly would people who come here to make a living regardless of if they want to stay or not vote in a way to jeopardize that work? Even if just working to take the money home still need work to do that. Even to get the hours to collect pogy.

I'm sure all those newfs, Scotians, and brunswickers working in ft. Mac were deff. The ones who voted in the NDP

I was born and raised in the second largest city in Newfoundland, Fort McMurray and I know a chit load of them wouldn't go back. Most are retiring in Alberta or BC near the lakes.

Like I said there are some, but the majority leaves.

It's funny because I grew up here, one side of my family has been in the GP area for 100 years and the other side over 60, and they came for the same reason people still come here today; to make a better life for themselves and their children, and I'm damn thankful for it, I see no reason why others can't continue to come here for work, those with the determination to make something of themselves can here in Alberta. But those that want to come out here for an easy paycheck and go home to collect EI, or want to sit and b!tch about the place I love can go the f@ck home right now.

I have met many great individuals from all over Canada that share this same feeling about Alberta, but have also met the scum that comes out here looking for a free ride on the backs of others. Unfortunately some of these undesirables are also from right here in Alberta. So I find it very hard to paint everyone with the same brush.

Now if we open this topic to include TFW's or immigrants with their "religous beliefs" then my opinion changes...

If you get a chance watch StormCloudsGathering on you tube.... if ya really want to feel helpless and go bat**** crazy with conspiracy theories.
This global downfall and turbulence has been predicted years ago. The dudes pulled all the pieces together so that you could get some sense of what is going on.
After watching those clips, I started to look out the window and hope for an epic snow fall to get this crap off of my mind.

Canada's in recession, thousands are out of work, thousands more struggling just to pay their bills, and the biggest concern about the new government is how good the government dope will be. LMFAO
The 'product' may help people calm their anxiety or at least give them a medical excuse to get a script from the doctor for the 'produce' due to economic anxiety.

actually the bank of canada says the mini recession is over, so they're not changing the canada bank prime rate... Leaving it at .5%.... Just announced yesterday.

Alberta may be experiencing a bit of a recession? Or just bad govt, ignoring the average worker??

It's mostly a local thing for sure, but a topic for the election could have been sending workers back to school while everything is slow to prepare for the next boom, but screw it we'll just legalize pot instead.
