The day I broke my ankle in McCall sledding. I thought it was just sprained. Still rode the rest of the day. I had my socks on my toes cause they were cold, lol.

Bad ass! How'd you manage that? Props to you riding it out girl, that's awesome. When ya get bucked off show that machine who's boss and get back on 8)

Haha thanks! I was heading up to a jump, run up was rough and went off the jump off kilter, when I landed I got bucked one way, sled the other but my ankle decided to stay with my sled. Snap!

I guess these pics aren't going to be for the faint hearted! They are nasty, but they are my war wounds and I can proudly say I survived and overcome them! I was involved in a side-by-side rollover in May 2012. My left leg was almost torn off in the rollover. I was lucky I didn't bleed to death as my artery was exposed and nearly sliced open. My injuries included a severed MCL (medial collateral ligament) that was torn away from the bone with such force that the surgeons found bone fragments when they were trying to close up my wound. The surgeons were doubtful that I would even regain the full use of my leg back. Three surgeries later (debridement and skin grafting) I was lucky enough to start physio in August, where I threw away my knee brace and crutches! I'm happy to say I'm now back to kick boxing, and have went out on two sled trips so far this year! My knee is holding up much better than I expected, I am so grateful for my second chance at life....and nothing will stop me now! :)

It's absolutely amazing. She has to be the most determined and humble person I know. From sheer chaos in May to ripping around like nothing ever happened in November... Watching her shred through the powder after all she has been thru is truly inspiring. Just goes to show you that if you want something bad enough you truly can make it happen!! See ya Saturday Gill :)

Snowqueen= War wound Queen. That's very scary chit and it was inspiring to watch you handle it with such strength and determination. Even during the times when positive thinking was falling by the wayside and you were feeling the road to recovery wasn't even in sight, you reached out and got strength from all the people who love you. You kept your head up, powered on and more than accomplished your recovery goals. It's very inspiring and exciting to see you able to enjoy the sport you love again! You're an amazing woman, and not because of your war wounds, but because you're 'you'.

I have to admit sledmamma...I got a little nervous when I saw you as the last poster, not sure why.

Cuz so far, all I have to show for my high flying shenanigans is some pretty bruises and the occasionally shattered ego?? One might think my time is coming ...
