WANTED - Winter Beater

Thought i'd throw this out here. My kid is up for a heavy duty tech. apprenticeship program through school. He's gonna need a cheap car to get him to the shop north of Sherwood Park. Program starts next week. It's just for winter, so FWD sedan, or older SUV would be preferred. He's got $1000.00 and we will be kicking in the rest.
If anyone has an extra car they don't need, or knows of a cheap vehicle, let me know.

I have something you may be interested in. 09 Dodge Caliber. Excellent on gas, I was thinking of downsizing my fleet at home. I wouldn’t call it a beater tho.
