I received a call from my dealer (pro-am) in Calgary about a recall on the starter. I guess the shaft can break in colder temps. Anyone get a call or hear about this recall or have experience with the shaft breaking. My viper is 2014. Thanks

I had to replace my starter as with the cat electronics the timing curve was wrong the engine would kickback and it broke the nose and removed teeth off the gear. Bought an aftermarket starter and new gears from yamaha. They did two reflashes and all has been good.

Did your dealer give you any paperwork,if so would you mind sending me a copy as my dealer said if there was any sort of paper trail he could fight together me a new starter, and pay for my other parts I had to buy.

I actually sold my viper in October to a good friend of mine. My dealer called me just before xmas with the news on the recall as they didn't realize I had sold it. My buddy isn't on sledding forum's so I wanted to see if anyone else heard about the recall or had issues with the starter. He is a couple hours away from the nearest dealer......just seeing if it was worth for him to haul it in for repair. Cheerz
