Ordered a 2015 with the 190 kit and am wondering what kind of things I should do to get more hp without spending too much extra money. Any suggestions on this?

If you want more Power just upgrade to the 270 kit. If you want to enhance the 190 MCX experience then just make sure you get the best clutching set up. It rips real good with the right set up.
Enjoy the buggy :)

Are you better to have a cranked up 190 kit or a turned down 270 kit? Can't be much difference money wise?

Depends on the kit. But the 270 with A head shim is double the price when parts and labor are involved.

They say it leans out after 190hp. But would aftermarket injectors help with the leaning out or would that turbo not push the psi to get it to 200-225?

Gotta question why you ordered the 190 kit if you want 225 HP? You're asking for trouble if you want to cheap out and push the 190 kit beyond its boundaries IMO.

If you are dead set on making more power, the 190 kit uses the same Mitsubishi 16T as the 240 kit, so it will make the required pressure. An air/fuel gauge will tell you if its running lean so that is mandatory. You might need to run av/race gas if you go beyond 190. Something to think about.

I know a guy who's 180 kit dyno'd at 203 HP with an excell header on it and I've heard that you can crank in the wastegate to bump the boost.

I'd call Robertson Yamaha as I know they were re-programming boxes for guys and maybe they can get you in the middle ground around 215 for low $$$.

Honestly, I would ride it first, the new chassis is amazing and the kit makes full power at elevation, so its a different animal. Then if you still feel the need, spend your money on taking weight off the sled, weight reduction will significantly improve the handling and ride and not take any reliability from the motor with a 190 on it.

Taking weight off will do more for you IMO than going from 190 to 215 HP. It'll take less effort to ride and the sled will react better. These kits are a blast.

you need a intercooler & more fuel + shim, you cant get more fuel by just doing injector, you will need to control the bigger injector or secondary injector,so you would need a fuel box to control them.you can get a bit more with race fuel if you turn boost up but will run out of fuel anyway.

Like many have suggested... Try the 190 in its form, properly clutched, weight saving ideas, and if not enough power for your style you can upgrade to 240 or 270 kit... The NEW MCX 240-270 c/w 19t Mitsubishi so if u do upgrade later u will have the 16t... Good luck with your choice. What I do know is MCX had some of the best snow check pricing program & incentives than I have ever seen this year.

If you are thinking about upgrading the 190 kit before you ride the machine, I can almost guarantee you will be wishing you upgraded after the first couple of rides. Boost is a bit of a disease…we usually always want more.

In saying that, what type of riding do you do? In my experience, the application is a bigger factor than power. Lots of wide open spaces, the 270 with the headshim and weaker bottom end where you can keep the turbo spooled…tighter riding, the 190 with stock compression will give you a bit more response and bottom end and you’re on/off the throttle more.

I While I can’t say much from experience, I have a built a few Doo 1200’s with the MCX 180 kits. Pretty reasonable gains were found with a free flowing muffler (15hp) and pulling the intake out from under the hood. Clutch and gear it properly and you’ll have a lot of miles of fun on it. If the Viper motor is like the Doo, as I would guess it’s fairly close, adding more fuel with aftermarket injectors would work, but you need better quality fuel to eliminate the chance of deto considering you are running stock compression. Replacing the air-air intercooler (I think the Vipers are air-air?) with a water to air would lower charge temps and build a bit more power as well. You maybe able to move to use a rising rate regulator here too and still use the stock injectors but I’m now only talking at random here.

I’m sure with the number of kits that were snowchecked, people will be experimenting this year to squeeze a bit more power out of them.

I did the exact same thing when I originally ordered my viper, but then I thought if I want more power then who is going to buy a 180 kit=Which is what comes from mpi with snowcheck, so I would of wasted 2500 basically. So I just took the deals that were offered right now for big power if I want now at snow check time. I owned many turbo sleds also and it is very important in my style of riding to be able to turn up the boost when needed. There has been many a time when exploring and make a wrong turn... Lol
