Hey. Just wondering what vent kits everyone is using, and how they are holding up. I bought a BRtech kit this winter and am NOT happy with it. Have about 5 rides on it and it looks completely trashed. Have never hit anything, and sled has only been rolled about 3 times in deep snow to get unstuck. Called BRtech about it and the guy kept cutting me off and telling me I hit something. So crappy vents and even worse customer service.

Ive heard really good things about 2cool and modrods. Modrods are the only ones I have seen first hand though. A good buddy of mine has them and the still look like new after 3 years of hard abuse. I have seen lots of vents out there, but didnt know whos they were. So just wondering what you are running and how they hold up.

Some pics of BRtechs vents after 5 rides. (they looked like this after the first ride)

i'm curious as to why the border of the vent would be kinked like it is when the panel is still straight.

looks like they meant for the middle of the vent to be riveted (or whatever) to something as well?

either way, should be able to take that little bit of abuse no problems.

thanks for the info, definitely won't be getting that kit!

Yeah, the middle section probably should have been riveted on as well. If it was just the middle section that was kinked up I would take the responsibility for it. But the entire vent is rippled. The pictures really dont do it justice as to how bad these look! Bottom line is they are just a really poor quality vent. Too thin of material. Plus the glue they use to hold the screen to the frame doesnt hold. Some areas were already coming off when I installed the kit.

First of all, the dealer has to remove the tree magnet!

Secondly, you get what you pay for!

Doo a google search or maybe here, and for sure on DooTalk for JC's Custom Vents. He is in Idaho and makes awesome vents. They are pricey but you get what you pay for.

I've had two sets (08XP and a 2010XP) and they doo have some marks on them but there is a 5000 miles on the both sets. They still look great but used; if you know what I mean.

The first picture is when they were installed on the 08; second picture is 3500 miles later, the third is of the 2010 with 2000 kms on them. Jon supplies steel rivets and they are strong enough to hold the side panel straight in the trees.

Great guy to deal with and you could have them shipped to the border and go down and pick them up saving quite a bit of dinero.....I know we should buy Canadian but some things are just made better down there and this is one of the better products.

I have nothing but good things to say about my Modrods. They seem to have held up good. I haven't hit anything yet, but they have about 1000 miles on them and they have performed as advertised. about a Hundred bucks if I remember correctly. they are on a XF 1000.

X2 on the Modrods I have run them on a couple machines since 2008 and they still look like the day they were installed.

Yeah sounds like modrods is the way to go. It doesnt look like they make the big side vent for the xps though? Or are they just not on the website?

Yeah I cant believe how good my buddies vents look. They are like new with 3 HARD seasons on them.

I have Mod Rods vents on my sled and no problems after 3 years of abuse. The plastic frames just flex back after they are hit. Don't cut out the whole area behind the vent just drill some holes with a hole saw and the panel stays stronger.

Vents in Canada at menztoys.com,we recommend drilling large holes instead of cutting out the whole panel, leaves some strength in the panels. The vents are abs frames. thx wayne

Thanks. Those look great, and your prices seem super reasonable. Plus you're right next door to me!

Hopefully they will work on my new BRtech side panels I have coming. I really hated doing business with these clowns again, but they wouldnt give me my money back for the crappy vents, or even the one they didnt send! So I just got them to take the money off a new set of panels. Really starting to have second thoughts about that.

we run mod rods as well . all good and look new , but the key is to drill out round holes in the back and not cut out all the material or they buckle

I was really surprised when I saw Deaner's vents after one ride... not the greatest product imho... Even the way the initially fit was cheesy.

Some good leads for good new vents in this thread. cool.

Oh.....and called them at 9am sharp this morning to ask when my side panels were shipped. Apparently they forgot about them, but had shipped them that morning! What a bunch of bullch!t. I tried to just cancel them and get a refund for everything.......but no, they had already shipped. Before 9am on a monday morning........

I would steer clear of this company.

RSI on the other hand......called them at 8 this morning. I lost the inserts for my bar risers (so stock bars fit in them). They shipped me a set this morning for free. I just had to pay the shipping. Some companies know how to do business. I will be back RSI.:)

Wow deaner, that sucks. I had a set of those vents on my 08 and they held up really well. I had about 3000 miles on them with lots of tree riding. I did rivet the chit out of them though because I didn't think that they would hold up without.
That's BS on the customer service, I won't buy from them again. Thanks for the heads up!

I recently bought the doo 5 piece honeycomb vent kit from wayne @ menztoyz and am happy with them, I drilled holes in the panels as recomended and they have survived a few rolls already with no signs of damge. I would recommend them to a friend for sure and the price is great.
