Hey All!

Hope you are having a wonderful Monday!

I am looking for deals/suggestions on some vent covers for my '04 summit. The vent holes on either lower side of my panels are completely open and was causing my belt to slip. I modded it up with duct tape but I'm sure that won't last, lol. Also wanted to add more vents and get rid of the poopy honeycomb vents in the hood and in the front below the bumper.

Any suggestions? Hook ups?

Saw someone on dootalk who cut out the shape needed from a steel grate material, then hot glued on some pet screen for a filter material (from a screen door, the pet screen is tougher?) and riveted that in. Seemed to work okay for him.

thanks Slut. I've seen those before and heard bad things about the quality of them. Thinking XXXModRods is the way to go!

Pet screen and Marine Goop (both are available at Home Depot) are the cheapest way to go and IMHO the best.

If you are just looking at sort of closing off those pesky holes that Doo thinks are soo necessary and not concerned with clutch cooling it will work great.

Good luck, fs

I've just seen people have issues with the frogskinz before now that I've seen what they look like. Not to say that their product isn't good, I just haven't seen them work personally yet.

Would love to see the XXX ones. Fairly certain thats the way I will go.

Thanks Ferniesnow! I would like to get my clutches cooler so would like to go with the kit for fear of screwing things up. lol

If you are referring to the little Nike hole on each side, door bug screen and hot glue works great. Did it a few years ago and no snow gets in.

Cheap way to go as well.

haha those are the ones I am talking about for sure! Nice description! That's great! Looking to get a little more air to my clutch so thinking a vent kit is the way to go. But if I opt out of that it's great to know that works!

I am a firm believer in JC Customs

Don't forget to check all the REV vents, there are different shapes and stuff in the different design pages

Have these all over the XRS and the XP, exceptional build quality and available in different colors! no snow under the hood and no ripped screen nor broken frames.

I have a full roll of pet screen i bought to put some more screen on the XP, your welcome to some if you decide to make your own, the stuff is pretty much indestructible, it's even hard to cut.

x2 For JC, I put these on 3 years ago and after some hard riding they are going strong. Oh yeah I like stickers on my sled as well!

I haven't added any venting yet but my 1000 was filling up with snow so I just used a screen door repair kit ($12 home depot) and some automotive grade double sided tape to fill all the stock holes. It has held up great so far.

If your sled has the little Nike emblem vent holes on each side panel, put some SLP prefilter material over them and use some high temp rtv to hold it in place. Ever since I did this to my Summit I have had no snow issues with snow inside my panels.

I also recommend the XXXModrod vents, I've got vents on both my side panels and also on the knee side of each panel. One other thing I did was drill 3 1" holes under my airbox and covered them with Frogskinz vents. I get more airflow into my airbox from the vent on the side panel. I also put a Flow Rite screen in place of that round plate next to the speedo and that lets out a bit of heat as well.

I just vented my Summit...I used a combination of Frog Skin and a kit sold by Mountain Magic through Martin Motor Sports...The Frog Skin is a bit "light" for the lower part of your panels as a stick can poke through easily. Use the Frog Skin for exsiting factory vents to stop fine snow from entering the engine compartment and buy the vent kit/material from Martin's in Calgary...looks cool too! LOL! If looking for the parts call Edmonton Martin's @ 780-481-4000 and they can direct you if Calgary can't...Cheers!
