Gear oil/ diesel fuel 50/50 mix in a weed sprayer,,, ruffly 2 1/2 gallons and lett'er buck...
Don't park in your driveway for 3 days to let the excess drip off...
2 X's a year for new vehicle,,, 3 or 4 X's for clunckers...
$20 ish bucks per spray,,, use cheap gear oil...

I fill up the weed sprayer and let'er buck... lol
Shes one he'll of a mess but it keeps the pannels/ frame/ and chassis in check...
$20 buck,,, get that crap in and around the wheel-wells,,, pop the plugs and get the in'side kicker panels...
Do the inside of the doors with rust check,,, I prevent the cab smelling like diesel fuel for 6 months... lol...
My unit is holding up pretty good in the panel department,,, the rest of the unit is worn out...
Dodge and their junk wiring...
Once all the under crap is sorted,,, put the spray tip on fan and give the out-side a lite coat and do the rims...
Calcium chloride and salt will eat the iron like nothing...
Eastern Canada and U.S.A sea board sprays Magniuzium Chloride,,, that crap will eat steel,,, iron,,, plastic and all things rubber,,, its the worst of the worst...

Do you clean off all the surface rust before applying an undercoat?
My truck is starting to show surface rust, but only on the weld seems of the frame and attaching parts. Enough that it would take a long time to clean off however.

Here's what I do every fall,
I clean my trucks really well, scrape off any peeling paint or loose rust and let it dry. I come back with Fluid Film black and go to town. They have in aerosol cans as well as bigger cans/buckets that you mix up and load up an undercoating gun then spray away. The film does have a bit of a smell for a little while but goes away within a few days.
You can get tubing attachments to get inside tight to reach areas, in the frame rails, rocker panels, doors etc. You usually just have to pull the panel plugs to access them. Don't forget to get in above the rear fender well (especially on dodges), you can access these areas through the rear taillight pocket.
Make sure if you go this route to spray when it's still above 0'c, otherwise it gets pretty thick!
Does it last forever? no, does it wash off at the first carwash, no. You do have to reapply it every 6 months or so on the frame rails.

Interesting regime, I am installing new panels as the chloride/salt have just ate it to chit. From now on I will be pulling the rear taillights to spray the inners. All these trucks seem to keep crud in there and then develop rust or bubbling/then rust. Will use weld through primer on the backside before installing and then rock guard or por 15 not sure on that.
