well i mean if you dont snow check there gonna ding you 2500-3500 for extended warranty and thats just about a long block. its all about how much money you have to play with. financing makes sleds you cant afford possible. But saying that if you buy a 2020.5 turbo do for 14 and put a new long block in your still less then new buy a gen 5 or even a used 2022 turbo. same can be said on the Polaris side. or even a proclimb that you turbo. new sleds are nice and i have a gen 5 turbo but i could make the argument id be about the same spending less on a used unit that i had to put an engine in at somepoint

Guys that think a sled only drops 500 bucks or goes up a year old are out to lunch.

I'm thinking of just flipping them every year. It cost me 10 to go from my 13 to 17, 8600 17 to 20 and 10500 from 20 to 23. So if it costs 3500 every year that's a more affordable chunk and I get new and warranty. And if the market goes for ch!t I can just cancel my snowcheck.

But that's paying cash. If you want to flip a sled every year you financed for 5 years the math don't work.

A lot of it comes down to preventative maintenance. 10 years ago it was pretty common to come across threads on here about when a guy should change pistons, or when you should be checking crank runout. Those threads don't exist on the new units. Without PM it's a matter of when the motor goes, not if it goes. Seems a lot of people would rather take the hit with depreciation and buy new every few years instead of pulling wrenches. Using warranty instead to repair the unit if it fails.

With a young family I don't ride a 1/4 as much as I used to, but I'll still want a newer sled in the next year or 2. I'd buy a turbo off warranty, knowing full well it may need a few g's in motor work, but I'm not paying $20k for that sled. For me that used turbo would have to be priced $14k or less to be worth it, otherwise I'd just order a new N/A model.

At best its a 50/50 crap shoot that's not worth it if yha want too ride...

For me, I am a whole lot more comfortable having that warranty. That's why I'm buying new, and modifying within the constraints.

On the other hand, by buddy just bought a snowcheck backout expert gen5. He brought it home and tossed the warranty out the window as he bolted a redline turbo kit on, pumping out around 240hp.

So there's guys that care about warranty, and guys that pay to play.

Wouldn’t you be better off buying these? There’s a few on Kijiji already. $10000 less than a factory turbo. Still money left over with buying a aftermarket system.

Most of the extras with the expert are fairly desirable for an advanced rider. Shot start, T-motion & flex edge delete, 34" front end, lower riser, lower seat.

Could add them all, but the price starts to get close.

I'm not brand loyal either lol. I have a Yamaha ATV, not a big fan of the Polaris ATV. I just like the ergonomic of the verticle steering chassis like Poo and Cat.

That's why I only looked at 2020.5's with BRP warranty remaining. Then I just extended it another 3 years. The new 2023 G5's will be off BRP warranty now before mine runs out in 2026.

No but I have talked to a few dealers in Alta and Montana and they all have been telling me the same thing. There allocations are all down from last year and one told me he wasn"t allocated any. And a 8 to 10 percent increase in price

I don't see it.

Unless we get a pile of snow dealers are going to have 23's to get rid of next fall. Lots of guys are walking away from their snowchecks, between low snow, high interest rates and Jan-Feb delivery there's no reason to take them home.

The market simply won't support an 8-10% price increase. Lots of guys aren't getting many miles on their '23s yet, and many of them won't pay 10% more on a '24 to then loose $8k selling their '23s.

I'd be surprised if we don't see price cuts on either the coming 24 or 25 MY sleds. It happened back in the 80's, manufactures cut prices on cars, trucks, tractors, etc just to move inventory. Its going to happen again. Especially on toys.
