I have a case 2014 tr320 and in 1000hrs I have spent 3000 in repairs out of pocket vibration is a killer on track machines. Its over years for warrenty 1 drive hose vibrated thru lost all fluid, ALL pins and bushings have to be replaced before 900 hrs, wires wore thru arms would not lift routing of wires wrong from factory but my fault, and local dealer is a joke to deal with.



I heard about this. I was told by quite a few people that the Case machines from somewhere in the 2010 to 2015 had alot of problems. I however replaced my fleet of JD's in 2017 with 3 case tr270's and 1 tv380 and all machines have over 1000hrs now and I have had one air conditioning hose rub through and one fuel level sensor stick in the empty position. So maybe they fixed there issues. On another note when I replaced my fleet in 2017 the case was the most affordable as well.

Agree with the comments above get the machine that makes sense for where you are working. Tires for hard pack and tracks for everything else. We used to buy the oem tracks for our JD and they never stood up replacing them every few years. Switched up to a softer track and they were still going strong a few years later when we sold it. They had so much grip they would stall the machine before it stopped pushing and i could not get it stuck. Tracks also give a much smother ride making it easier at least for me getting a level surface. We started renting a tire machine after we sold and it was like driving a rocking horse it sucked for landscaping and the rough terrain we use it in

Case makes a great wheeeld machine, but the tracked models are nothing great, the older ones were just a wheeled machine they threw tracks on. Also worse that the Case dealers here are completely useless.

Takeuchi makes a really good machine, not fancy but tough and for years they only make track machines. Unfortunately SMS becoming the dealer was a flop, I was hoping it would be a step up from Scott but nope. Partly why i went with JD, Brandt and Martin provide much better dealer support.

The track pattern makes a huge difference in how smooth a track machine is on hard material. The zigzag pattern rides like a Cadillac compared to the staggered pads. The staggered pad design just about pops the windows out on hard surfaces.

I should take picture of tracks cousin out on. It had factory what yours is in top. But the new ones have another dish or split lug instead of that huge pad. Night and day difference in the hard gravel yard doing stuff

The soft wave like that can be real easy to throw tracks off in soft ground from what I’m told ??

The 333e spends 75% of its hours in **** soft or frozen so not tossing a track is big deal

1 job I did I used customers cat machine a 289 I think liked the ruggedness of it but cant see much around it without the camera perfered my machine over it.

A neighbor has a Takeuchi with the staggered pattern track and loved it for the ride in the summer. But he told me once the track made one revolution in the snow, it would make ice underneath itself and become useless. For what I want one for. Doing my driveway and our neighbors, I would need a straight cut to be great in snow or a wheeled machine

I put a set of chains on the back wheels for winter. Then it plushes some serious snow.

skid steer will be alright, just get the biggest one you can.
and factor in getting a few attachments you'll probably want a couple differnt buckets, snow blade ext.

I'd get one with tires. doesn't sound like you'll be spending 10 hours a day in the thing. tires will be better.

Why is bobcat not even on the list here?
Skidsteers are the bulk of their business and not an afterthought.
At work we have 8 or 10 of them and I have one at home because of seeing how good they are. The oldest one is 9000hrs and barely touched. No major work on any of them. The best ones are the s205 .They will lift 3000LB with a counterweight kit.
Get the ISO or H controls that are mechanical and have actual feedback to make the machine do what you want.
All the newer drive by wire /RC ready units suck to operate. So much delay in the controls. But good visibility and well built.
The bigger the model the less visibility usually.

I am currently starting to think about selling my 98 763 Bobcat and getting something just a little bigger. Less than 2000 hours on the old girl and in great condition other than paint. Have a tough time selling it but I have found myself wanting a little more lifting lately.

Was going between tracks and wheels but likely will stick to wheels as well, just need to find the right unit in the 30 ish k range.

Again, not brand loyal one bit but I loved my bobcat and didn’t have a minutes trouble with it. Much preferred it over my dads little cat 216. A bit longer wheelbase on the bobcat so MUCH smoother to operate. Took me about an hour to get used to the h controls but after that I loved them and hated getting back in the cat. Found I was much faster and smoother in the bobcat

Sold my little 751 (Not 763 like above, brain fart) in just under a week. Now to buy a new to me skid steer. Going to look tomorrow at a couple of Bobcat's, one S650 and an S590.

Rented a Bobcat T450 and have to say, it was a pretty decent machine. Good power, visibility, looks super easy to maintain. Downsides were the footwells are terrible no room to move feet around, it's fairly loud inside cab, and while the controls are responsive you get feedback which I don't like, after a full day it was giving me problems with 1 hand going numb that I don't have with JD or Case, but that's probably pretty rare, my hands are fawked and vibration gives a lot of issues. Looking for a 4'-4.5' tracked machine to buy and it might just be it.

Bought a 2015 Bobcat S590 this morning with 1300 hours on it. Nice machine and the folks in Drumheller were great to deal with, simple and easy deal.
