The Government of Canada, the Government of BC, and BCHydro are combining funds to put 22 EV charging stations in the South Shuswap. Total cost is $2.7M and that is $122,727/charging station. Can you believe that?

As EVs become more popular, I have to wonder at what point we realize that our electrical infrastructure/grid isn't setup for the load of all the new charging stations and home charging setups that are going to be installed. Blackouts here we come...
Windmills and unicorn 🦄 farts will fill the void.

BC has more hydro than it needs so it makes sense
Alberta burns coal/fossil...think nuclear, it's 100% safe.

I’m not sure that’s true. BC doesn’t have endless energy for BC itself Much of the bc’s Hydro is export energy. If EV cars take over, BC would no longer have energy to export and California and Oregon. Those states would be low on power themselves. Electric vehicles are a liberal pipe dream that will require a complete rework of infrastructure first. Then the cars can be sold

British Columbia firefighters got a look at the potential future of their industry Tuesday, as the world’s first electric fire truck rolled into North Vancouver.

The apparatus, valued at about $1.6 million CDN, is designed by Austrian firm Rosenbauer, and at this point remains a concept vehicle.

Need to charge the Fire Truck

Makes sense

You must have forgot about BC hydro issuing warnings last winter when they could not keep up with the power demand, thanks USA and your coal fire plants for bailing our azzes out.

I don't think it's free
We need better storage tech, peak hours are an issue, always have been. Even charging timers set for off peak hrs would help a lot. Imagine if factories could charge all night
BC is already 95% renewable. Go nuke, Alberta
Trade agreements and contracts between power grids are probably over complicated

Oh, don’t worry a couple solar panels and some turbines and everything will be fine.
