Ultrasonic Parts Cleaner

I thought I'd share with you all a few pic's of my parts cleaner. Its an ultrasonic cleaner. I use it for carbs, clutchs, rave valves and any other parts that are hard to clean. I use hot soapy water in it most of the time. I would be interested in hearing what other people are using for solutions or degreasers.

Sumx54 how well does that contraption work? Do you have to leave your clutch in there over night or is reasonably quick at cleaning? Looks like a deep fryer but hey if it works great i may have to look into getting one of them...

JUST A QUESTION: WHAT DOES THAT HOT SOAPY WATER DO TO ALL THE PRE-OILED BUSHINGS IN THE CLUTCH... DOES IT EXTRACT SOME OF THE ALREADY SPARSE LUBRICATION OUT OF THE BUSHING MATERIAL??? LONG TERM DURABILITY AFTERWARDS? JUST CURIOUS.

It works real well. The clutch thats in it is off an 07 summit and had never been cleaned in 1600 miles. We put it in there last night and it took 10 minutes to clean to brand new. It generates ultrasonic waves at 50,000 hz. Pretty cool unit. I also use it for cleaning brass and bullets for reloading and the wife uses it for cleaning her jewellry. The downfall is thats its not very big, 6.5 l is all. You can get larger ones but for lots more $$$.

To be honest I'm not really sure which bushing material your refering to. Most people are using brake clean and other abrasive degreasers for cleaning their clutches, I'm sure good ol hot water with a touch of dish soap can't be any more damaging than that. I take the clutches all apart and inspect and lube properly before assembly and I've never had a problem yet but then again Ive only been doing this for two years.

I agree, brake clean must be worse! but I love the stuff!! ohhh the sweet smell!

my mom's husband owns a jewlery plant and is also a custom jewler, and they use those things and swear by them.

Sure any time, I have no problem with that. Works great for cleaning gun parts too

Where do you find those at? Might have to pick one up for myself now that I finally have a garage. Oops, just saw you posted a link to an e-bay auction, thanks. Pricing looks pretty good. None of the mess that comes with a traditional parts washer either.

there are no preoiled parts in the tra clutch. it is a dry clutch. any grease and the belt dust would stick and destroy.

however if there is lubrication in the bushings from manufacturing i wouldnt know that...

how do you get all of the carbon off the power valves soaked them in carb cleaner and only cleans the light stuff don't want to use any abrasive material that would scratch stainless steel

i use a dremel/drill press with an abrasive attachment

i figure if guys are cutting them and not coating them it shouldnt and hasnt been an issue for me

Any of the bushings in the clutch are an oilite bushing which is an oil impregnated material, basically their self lubing.
