Some private land birds and almost more turkey vultures than turkeys!

Those turkeys used to be all over the place down by Waneta dam south of Trail just this side of the US border

Well, it's full prep season that's for sure.
Transport permit in for taking guns across border to the US.
16 days booked off for Montana, Idah and Washington.
Maybe save a couple days for BC.

24 inch barrel? Why so short? What's your shotshell of choice?

Easier to pack a shorter gun, no real reason other than that. The pistol grip stock is also nicer to use and take up some recoil and have a Simmons recoil pad.
Use 3.5" with #5 shot and 2.25oz loads.

Yeah it's crazy how those grips really do help with recoil. What's the range on those, lead?

Interesting… never been on a turkey shoot before.
What’s the process like for transporting your gun across the border?

65 yard range with lead shot.
To get guns across the border, it takes paperwork and patience. 6-10 week process.

you're getting a 65 yd range with #5 shot? what's the velocity with that heavy of a load? i hunted geese for years mostly pass shooting with a 3.5" 10 gauge (3.5 12 gauge wasn't a thing yet) and the smallest we'd use would be #2's but nickel plated #1s or BB were the ticket. i loaded all my own shells and had a multitude of chokes. same for hunting turkey in west texas but the ranges were much shorter.

First Idaho turkey today.

Headed home from two weeks in Idaho, Montana and Washington.
Final tally was 5 turkeys.
Awsome time.
Americans like their guns and targets shooting, weekend was target shooting as never seen in Canada, to bad - they where all having a great time at every gravel pit.
Most polite, kindest, helpful people I have ever met!
All 3 states, were were offered a yard to park our trailers on for next year by a total stranger we met on a trail.
People meeting you on the trail (me walking or on e-bike) would stop and appologize for possibly disturbing your hunt on state land.
Offered a ride when walking and when stopped to gobble birds would get asked if we had vehicle trouble or needed help.
Just a super fantastic time dealing with our neighbors to the south!!!
They even tell you the hit turkey spots.
Just an amazing time!!!

Cruising down secondary paved roads on e-bike with shotgun strapped into my backpack, people wave when they meet you.
I fit right in - I really liked my experience with our neighbors to the south.
