Hey Killerrf

The stock gearing is 19/50 or 2.63. The large drivers, 8 tooth 3" pitch, give a 1 to 1 shift out of 70.80 mph track speed. Even with a turbo, you wont achieve that. The aluminum gear doesn't last long. I would suggest that you get a 98 link 13 wide chain and run the king cat 52 tooth steel gear. This is a little gear down and offers more reliability to your sled. This drops your 1 to 1 shift to 68.10 mph track speed. Hope this helps. I also have some option for turbo clutching for your sled.

Cheers,

ok yes I was also wondering about the aluminum gear. was looking around for a steel gear but if the king cat has one then might as well head that route. what kind of clutching mixes you have for this sled? thanks for info appreciated.

All depends what you want to achieve if you want to go really fast and climb some chutes gear it up! We have always geared them up!!

Used to always use the old stock gearing from 2012-2014 which is a 21 top and 49 bottom gear, which will put you at a 2.33 gear ratio and 78.6MPH at full shift both are steel gears and you can use the same chain that’s in your sled right now, little bit cheaper of an option for you, and works really good, it’s a fast setup makes a pretty notable difference in track speeds while climbing

I’ve ran a 2.24 gear ratio on a TKI to much success as well

Ez-smog this information is incorrect. You are going the wrong way with gearing. The gearing you suggest will just make heat. Gearing higher to get more track speed is outdated and wrong. Ya ya everybody does it, it’s the way, so and so does it so it must be right, blah blah blah. Ask your builder friends how low have they taken the gear ratio. How much of the clutch does a 2.32 geared turbo sled use? Post a pic of the primary and we can start a gearing investigation.

KndyKane, your right it could be wrong and possibly going the wrong way? I’m no clutching expert, but it has always worked to gain that little bit extra of track speed while climbing. On my 15’ Proclimb the original and first water to air Boost it Cat we had that one geared at the 2.24 ratio on a TKI belt and I ran it for multiple seasons 3000+ miles all with the original clutch belt. It was up every chute in revy with confidence and was a really fast sled. It never built any heat in the clutches. Mind you it had 7T drivers back then, that was before the drop and roll
