i have a 08 xp-t 2871 w snow to air cooler 8psi. i have about 2000km/2 seasons with no blowups, reed failures, pipe failures or bellows and still havnt rebuilt it. i have about $1800 into my turbo setup including guages and head machining. the only hassle i had was keeping my pyrometer probes in and an a/f guage fail. i thought my fuelling was pretty good and didnt notice much lag but when i jump back and forth to a n/a xp i can tell it is a bit more responsive in bottom end. i would say that this is the main advantage of an etec turbo is it should be more responsive. i see a lot of threads about others with etec turbos (especially aerocharger) failing injectors, sensors, pumps etc. im just looking for feedback on pple w etec turbos to see if theyve had much for maintenance costs. or even better would be from pple who have owned both.
