Im looking at a boosted sled that had a CR tunnel put on it. The original tunnel is competely gone so the VIN number was cut out of the old one and riveted into the new tunnel.

Is this going to cause an issue importing from the states to canada? Does the nytro have the full VIN number on motor or anywhere else on the sled?

Thanks

you will have to bend the truth to get it across the border or have the individual selling it bring it across himself. Alberta registries uses special rivets to attach vin numbers that are deemed as assigned and if it does not have those customs will be very suspicious. Alberta registries charges $400 to provide a vin, and they go throught the seld with a fine tooth comb, including sn on motor. Hope this info helps.

HEY STEVE... I DON'T THINK IT WILL BE THAT TOUGH.... ESPECIALLY THEM KNOWING IT HAS AN AFTERMARKET TUNNEL.... THAT IS WHAT EVEN SPECIALTY SLEDS DOES... CUT OUT THE ORIGINAL AND WELD IT ONTO NEW TUNNEL... I DON'T THINK I'D BE TOO CONCERNED.... IF YA DON'T MIND ME ASKING.... HOW MUCH???

When I was bringing my jet-ski over the boarder, they didn't even notice the thing in the back of my truck, I had to tell them, then he got out of his booth to come check it out, I don't think that is something to worry about they have become alot more relaxed over the last year. just my two cents

I seem to remember something about if it doesn't have a vin due to custom tunnel you can get a special letter from the original manufacture and you will be gtg. I think you would be ok with riveting the old vin on the tunnel i don't think the border them selves inspect the sleds and the guy at canadian tire shouldn't care. it didn't work with mine cause it had a VE tunnel and a speedwerx motor so arcticcat said no speedwerx built it and speedwerx says no it's cats so legally it was not going to work.....so the sled came here for a "photoshoot" and it's been a long one haha

I have imported a few sleds last year and NOT ONCE did they even bother coming out to look at them. what you will need to provide is the date of manufacture that is on that tunnel label. You should not have a problem if you walk into the office with all needed numbers- if in doubt call the border crossing and explain the situation - just make sure you give your name as Mr. R. Swensen over the phone in case it goes bad!

Yeah, as long as you come in with all the info that you need, and your paper work is all in order, they have no reason to come check if the numbers match, they have tones of vehicles coming over now, and its not as big of a deal anymore compaired to say 10 yrs ago

I have imported a sled in from the US. From my experience they seem to be fairly clueless... I made the mistake of having the seller low ball the receipt showing that I paid much less than I did. I don't suggest doing this because it drew alot of attention... they searched my car and the sled etc...

I really don't think they would notice the vin rivetted on.

If you leave the registration for sled at the US customs for 48hours as required by US LAW they will provide clearance papers showing that the sled is not stolen etc... This should help at the canadian customs to have this paper work.

If the guy you are buying it from lives close to the boarder you can have him drop of the registration for clearance without actually paying... That is what I did... The the sled doesn't pass clearance and you have already paid you are screwed!

I am in the process of changing my stock tunnel on my apex to another brand new take off tunnel...now that tunnel has a serial number from the sled it came from...so I was going to make that one disappear and rivet over top an engraved serial number plate.....hopefully that works...Talked with a well know sled builder and he told me to do that......
