Tunnel Reinforcement- Looking for Recommendations

Hi Guys,

Noticed some slight damage to my tunnel this year. Gotta pound a couple concaves back in place then looking to reinforce the tunnel after. Anyone have any recommendations?

Here is what I run, PAR stiffeners and a mountain mayhem bumper, par is no longer around but something similar from vanamburger should do the trick. Been on my sled for 4 seasons now.

Ignore the missing skid, in the midst of putting a 3.2" in.

VanAmurg bumper or other like sumper with longer side supports will help. Plus you will end up with a much better rear bumper!

Arctic Cat rear bumpers also work great and they are cheap to buy. The M series of Cats. I paid $30 for mine including the rivets.

I've also used the PAR tunnel stiffners. Work really well however you need more then 50 rivets if I remember correctly. There's a guy on kijji who sells full tunnel stiffners with a cutout for the vin. Very well priced and also sells the tunnel/bulkhead braces like VA. Ships out of Ontario.

Hey Everyone,

Just thought I’d let everyone know what I have decided on. Going to get the Arctic Cat bumper and the Mountain Magic stiffners. Tunnel stiffner plate extends the whole side of the machine and bumper down the lip ending just shy of the running boards. Total for the plates will be $200 and $130 for the bumper plus a few hours of my time with the PA Air Riveter haha Next I need to decide on whether to powder coat everything black or apply a black vinyl. Going to keep it nice and simple on the tunnel.

Powder coat don't wrap it. I have an air riveter you can borrow.

Was leaning toward powder coat to. Think a little metal showing through would look good. Just a matter of the top of the tunnel at that point but we will see.

Have the air rivet tool already but thanks! Can bring yours over and tag team the riveting though one night if you want ! Haha

so a artic cat bumper fits on the pro axys? if so are they bolted on or riveted?

Yes, the AC Bumper fits the pro. Riveted from underneath along the lip which will definitely help stiffen the lip and bottom portion of the tunnel. Side plate will help the side. Everything should be better then New once this is done.

Btw this is a Pro-Rmk not a Axys. That being said I’m sure you could do the same thing on the Axys.

i had some side plates cut out of aluminium. Lasermann cuts in Red deer did it for me.

Got started today. Does anybody have any recommendations for drilling out the grey rivets that hold the stock stiffner plate on there?

I’m using titanium drill bits and can hardly get them to bite/drill. Had a hell of a come. Got three out on the other side but it took over a hour. There has to be a better way. Any recommendations?

Take a grinder to the backside of the rivets and grind flush inside the tunnel then punch them out. You might have to pull the rear of the skid to get enough room, and be careful not gouge the tunnel.
