need some feedback. looking to buy either this fall or next spring a tri-toon boat and sell the bowrlder boat. Too many people always wanting to come so thought its time to look at a large boat. Thinking of a 25 ft with a 200 hp. Any things to look out for on these types of boats as I have never owned a pontoon or tri-toon style boat.

TriToons are great. More money but they are more stable IMO. Pick your floor plan, stay away from carpet, and buy as much horsepower as you can afford. More is always better, nearly every dealer brings in mostly the “Min hp” models just to keep costs down.

In them hills.
I have a 25ft pontoon with 140HP on it.
12 people can fish off of it comfortably.

I depends what you want to do.

Pontoons don't plane and have a lower top speed. Are more stable than a tri toon when parked as they can't roll on the middle toon. Flat turns. Great for fishing, partying.and floating or cruising.

Tritoons can plane. Banked turns.
Can wakeboard, ski and tube behind them.
Need more horsepower. More $$$.
Way faster.

yes great point on the carpet as I have it in the current boat and hate it. Tks for the feedback!

Tks Dustin!! I rather spend the bucks now and get more HP rather than regret it down the road. We want to be able to have an "all around" boat that can pull a tube, cruise at a decent speed and do some fishing. There are some nice units out there but holy crap the nice ones demand a hefty price at over 110,000 bucks and seen one at $175,000. I cant justify that kind of a price tag for 3 months of boating!

There's a nice one at bass pro shop in cross iron mills for 80g, think it had a 200 or 250 on it

our Starcraft tri is just as stable as the twin was when parked, the center pontoon sinks lower and the outer two rest on the water when stopped. just my observation

Was in one of the shuswap boat dealers the other day and they were saying the new boats coming up will have tariffs attached to them an extra 10% I believe he said. I can't believe what a normal run about is going for now compared to what I paid for mine 5 years ago

I heard the same :( And yes the value of any type of boat is sure not the same as a vehicle depreciation. Either way, good deals come along for those who are patient LOL

True enough. Hard to believe I can sell my boat now for a shade more than what I paid for it in 2010. But that doesn't help with the upgrade cost difference that's triple now. And yep there can still be some good deals had when not in a rush
