Yes pretty far away. Think this log is worth anything?

Its about 12 feet long and 18inch diameter. Manitoba maple.

I dont have a saw mill, my dad might get one... but was thinking just fire wood, but it is a nice looking log though.

Im sure you could do a decent job with a chain saw; chalk lines and a ripping chain. Give it a try. You have nothing to lose. If it doesn't work out, then firewood.
It you get it into something similar to a board, let it dry out in a cold building. Then hit it with a planer. You may find a new love and it won't cost you anything.

My BIL runs a Stephensons Rental...got the family discount. Worked really well!
This bitch took my brother and I nineteen hours+ and sixty plus wheel barrels of wood chips/dirt.
Went twelve to sixteen inches down, going to fill with A-gravel/screenings

I have a couple stumps to remove, they are very close(touching) the house.

Dont want to use a stump grinder, because its so close to the house.

Pulling them out with a skid steer isnt a great option either really.

So has anyone here had any luck drilling holes into a stump and dissolve it with chemicals so that it can be easily removed with an axe?

If so what chemical did you use?

Any info or other ideas would be great.

As you can see I started digging/vacuuming then chain sawing... spent a lot of time sharpening chains.
I thought the same thing, getting to close to the fence and tight quarters. I stuck a piece of plywood up against the fence to protect it...didn't need it.
You can get pretty close to whatever...guard gets in the way of hitting anything. You have to tip it back pretty high to hit anything.

The drilling and chemical route...I think you'll be dead before the tree lol

I'll see if I can get a better pic of the fence/stump tomorrow...it snowed yesterday.

Yeah the one that was super close to the house is gone now. Just chipped away at it. It was small though, only about a foot in diameter.

The other one i need to do is a bit bigger and will need a stump grinder forsure.

Its not real close to the house, so should be easy.

Pic of the grinder. This one had an eighteen horse Honda on it, we used 2.5 tanks of gas which I thought was pretty good for two solid days of work..

I can buy one similar to that for around 2000$.

Not the kinda thing ill need all the time though, so might price out renting one, or getting someone else to do it.


I like buying tools though lol
