Our club is going through a bit of dilemma right now. We are trying to attract people to assist with selling Trail Passes for our club. As you all know Volunteers are extremely hard to come by these days, especially for 7 hours, 4 to 5 days a week, so that's out of the question. Does your club do it on a commission basis or an hourly wage? Do you pay travel expenses and consider wear and tear on their vehicles? Any input would be helpful..Cheers:beer:

I believe we pay our lot attendants a decent hourly wage.....volunteer thing dried out a long time ago....so a good wage and hire a couple of trustworthy local ppl who need some extra coin for the winter......

Starts out helping those needing a little extra, then they start feeling a little underappreciated, next comes entitlement and you owe me for all I've done, finally they join a union, strike for wages equal to what the rich bastazds riding the hills make.....they deserve it remember!

will the uic not pay up to $8 an hour towards wages, boost it some more and you may get some good people. advertise that the lot attendant will stay a little later to watch vehicles for a donation, or $5.

Ya that's a good point about the UIC kick back. I'll look into that. We right now are looking at paying about $15 per hour for an attendant, but last year, the attendants made so much on a commission and ended up costing the club so much, they don't want to work for an hourly wage now. It's about a 30 minute drive to our staging area so we may kick in a few extra bucks for travel as well.

Low hourly rate plus a commission on number of passes. They only work when we think the number will be high enough to generate profits (Friday, Saturday and Sunday and more through the holidays). Our staging area is only 4 km from town. :xmas2004_15:
